Listen to our first RMIS in Action weekly update for the latest news directly from our operations team. We are taking you to the front lines where RMIS is deploying 20 new animal health technicians to support state veterinary services in a major FMD vaccination rollout.

By securing animal health, we are strengthening every node in the value chainβ€”from local producers to the broader market.

In this video:

- The deployment of 20 new animal health technicians.
- How real-time app tracking and industry tags are equipping producers against FMD.
- How this intervention strengthens the entire red meat value chain.

The first boxes of Industry Traceability Tags are here, the first two batches have already been delivered, and distribution is underway. More are on the way as we continue to scale the programme.

Here’s why this matters. πŸ‘‡

For small-scale and communal farmers, vaccinating against FMD is only part of the challenge.

Without a compliant identification tag and a digital record linked to that vaccination, the vaccine alone is not enough to restore market access.

Many of these farmers manage large herds but have had no access to the identification infrastructure they need to prove compliance and trade with confidence.

RMIS has ordered the first 130,000 Industry Traceability Tags to change that.

Each tag is being distributed directly to communal and emerging farmers as part of the national FMD vaccination rollout, with vaccination and identification data captured on the RMIS Traceability Platform.

One tag. One record. One step closer to the commercial value chain.

Follow our journey as we distribute more tags and reach more farmers across South Africa over the coming months.

Our field services team drove 22,555 km in a single quarter to reach emerging farmers across South Africa. Here’s what they delivered.

The team does not operate from an office, they go to where emerging farmers are, in rural and often remote communities across South Africa, and they show up with practical, hands-on support.

In Q1 this meant:

β†’ Assisting with mobile unit infrastructure in communities where there is none
β†’ Monthly MeatMENTOR visits
β†’ On-the-ground assistance for the Land Development Support Initiative/Programme
β†’ Presenting at farmers days held across multiple provinces.

This is what inclusive growth looks like in practice. Not a policy document. Not office-bound assistance. A team on the road, in the field, doing the work.
