I am a 4th year medical student at the University of Pretoria with a passion for sports and human movement. Start Early. Get Strong. Grow Stronger.
Hi there,
My Name is Zein, and I am a 4th year Medical Student at the University of Pretoria. Prior to Medicine, I had done a year of Human Movement Science. That was where my passion for sports and functional human movement was sparked. I am now proudly a coach at CrossFit Brooklyn looking to further expand my experience and knowledge in the realms of anatomy, physiology and neuromuscular adapta
bility. I chose to be a student's personal trainer, because it is crucial to ingrain proper movement patterns before it is too late. Many will be playing sports or will one day enter the world of health and fitness without a solid foundation which may inevitably lead to injury. My aim is to introduce them to the basics of whichever field they decide on training in. I am a professional Coach and CrossFit-L1 Trainer, but I am no expert in any which field. However, CrossFit has allowed me to understand human movement as one whole concept implemented within varying fields. The concept of "Core to Extremity" for example, where energy is generated from the engagement of the core and travels through the body to reach the hands or feet, is one that is crucial to both the heavy and aggressive world of Olympic Weightlifting as well as the graceful and composed world of Gymnastics. However, these universal bodily concepts are not just mechanical. There are also physiological and anatomical concepts that make themselves invaluable when studied in training. My training programs can include:
Weight Loss: Endurance training to burn fat. Muscle Gain: Lifting to instigate the best hypertrophy response. Strength Building: Weight-intensive program based on numbers. Power Lifting: Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift. Olympic Weightlifting: Clean, Jerk, Sn**ch. Gymnastics: Core-intensive focusing on harmonious movement of the body. Calisthenics: Body positioning and control in space. CrossFit: Constantly varied, functional movement performed at high intensity. Grass Roots: For those who have yet to take their first step. Focus is on postural integrity and basic movement patterns. I not only aim to coach my athletes, but to teach and befriend them as well. Please don't hesitate to contact me regarding anything. Thank you,
