Liverpool FC Coach Arne Slot has been sacked
The club released an official statement confirming his departure following an end-of-season review. After leading Liverpool to their 20th league title in his debut 2024–25 season, Slot oversaw a highly disappointing 2025–26 campaign. The team suffered 19 defeats across all competitions, dropped 21 points at Anfield, and collapsed to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
Reports highlighted a breakdown in his relationship with high-profile squad members, most notably Mohamed Salah, alongside growing discontent from the fan base over a "boring" style of play.
The Liverpool board stated that while they remain grateful for his title-winning first year, a collective conclusion was reached that a "change is necessary for the club to keep moving forward".
Liverpool's hierarchy has already begun the process to appoint a successor. Former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has emerged as the clear frontrunner to take over.

José Mourinho has officially signed a contract to return to Real Madrid. The 63-year-old Portuguese manager has put pen to paper on a three-year contract keeping him at the club until June 2029. This marks his second tenure in charge of Los Blancos, following his previous spell from 2010 to 2013.
While the deal is completed behind the scenes, he will not be formally unveiled until after Real Madrid's upcoming presidential election on 7 June 2026.
