Practice DVD makes interactive DVD disc based educational games/applications for learning for various uses and audiences. This answers Thabo Mbeki’s call.

The former President Thabo Mbeki always stressed the importance of “African solutions to African problems”. According to Census 2011, almost 10.7 million South African households have TV sets and 8.6 million own a DVD player; while only more than 3.1 million own a computer. With the statistics above, Math on DVD game innovation takes advantage of the availability of DVD players even in poor households (cheap range DVD players cost about R150 versus computers at R1200), to help propel the education march and excite learners towards mathematics. Operating it is easy: simply put the game disc into a DVD player connected to a TV set and use the DVD-player’s remote control as joystick to manoeuvre and take quizzes.

It’s an exciting way for kids to practice and develop acumen for mathematics without parental reminder.

The application has over 500 quizzes in 10 sets and it gives scores. It has mood music to keep learners’ mood excited and participating.

The game has been given thumbs up by the likes of Professor Graeme Bloch and Dr Lucas Moloi.
