Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu will start for the Springboks in Baltimore on Saturday as they face the All Blacks in the Castle Double Malt Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series decider.

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has made just two changes to the starting XV that defeated New Zealand in Johannesburg.

Another big occasion awaits Sacha this time in the USA, with the former Bishops star set to play a key role as the Springboks look to claim the series against their greatest rivals.

Bishops Rugby would like to say a huge thank you to the entire Bishops community for once again getting behind the VUSA 24-Hour Cycle Challenge.

For 24 hours straight, Piley Rees was a buzz as the sixth Cycle Challenge saw plenty of determined riders, tired legs and, by the end, a whole lot of sweaty bodies!

Most importantly, the event brought the school community together to raise funds for VUSA Rugby and Learning Academy and its incredible work with children in Langa.

From Bishops boys and their parents to ODs, VUSA staff, friends and members of neighbouring schools, the support throughout the weekend was something to be proud of.

It was another wonderful example of what the wider Bishops community can achieve when everyone pulls together.

VUSA works across four preschools and five primary schools, providing after-school care, tutoring, nutrition, structured sport and mentoring.

As VUSA COO Nikki Matthews said:
“Every child deserves a safe space, a hot meal, and the chance to shine. Through English, Maths, Coding, sport, art, and music, VUSA helps children reach their potential. The Cycle Challenge makes this possible.”

Founded more than 20 years ago by Bishops Prep teacher Brendan Fogarty, VUSA continues to make a real difference in the lives of children and families in Langa.

And, of course, the weekend ended on an even bigger high as the Boks got the better of New Zealand!

Thank you for making the Villager 7s special

A huge thank you to the great schools of SACS, Rondebosch, Wynberg and Bishops, to the coaches, parents and, most importantly, the boys, for an inspiring day of 7s rugby.

We were blown away by the talent, energy and spirit on display. There was some fantastic rugby played, but even better was seeing so many young players enjoying the game. Congratulations to the winning teams in every age group.

It was a cold evening. Parking was not easy. And it has been a long season for players, coaches and parents. Yet you all turned up. In numbers.

We are incredibly proud to have reignited this 57 year old Villager Schools 7s tournament and to have opened Brookside to all of you and to our wider community.

Thank you for helping us bring it back to life.

We would love to hear your feedback. What worked? What could we do better? And what would you like to see when we do it all again?

See you at Brookside.

Bishops showed plenty of fight and determination in a hard-fought Derby against Rondebosch, but ultimately the hosts did enough to take the spoils.

Rondebosch started the stronger of the two sides in heavy, testing conditions, and opened the scoring with a pick-and-go. Both teams were guilty of unforced errors, but Bishops settled and added a penalty to move within two points of their hosts.

There were encouraging signs in the first half as Bishops looked good when sticking to the basics, building pressure and making ground. However, once inside the red zone, the visitors struggled to turn their opportunities into points. Rondebosch took a 10–3 lead into the break.

The second half became a battle between the 22-metre lines, with both sides working hard for every metre. Rondebosch produced moments of individual brilliance to extend their advantage, while Bishops continued to use their forwards effectively to get over the gain line.

A series of sniping runs from the scrumhalf brought Bishops right back into the contest and gave the visitors renewed belief.

Bishops continued to show their character, but Rondebosch's forward dominance eventually swung the game away.

A powerful charge over the line extended the hosts' lead, before a rushed kick was charged down as Bishops again struggled to turn pressure into points.

Despite the setbacks, Bishops never stopped trying. They continued to compete, continued to attack and showed plenty of fight in difficult conditions. Rondebosch ultimately took control late on to secure a 29–15 victory.
