what people Regard as RDL its not really a muscle Group but an abbreviated name for Romanian deadlift. Also a deadlift and a Romanian deadlift differs slightly from one another.
RDL focuses on one bend (hips) with soft knees, while deadlift has two bends (hips & knees). The bending machanics of the two exercises causes them to recruit different pressure points on the posterion chain.
Also you can improve your hinge strength with the convenctional one. But both exercises are good for muscle stimulation on the posterior chain.
