SACOPA 2026 – MUSIC SUBMISSIONS

Please take note that Music Submissions for the SACOPA National Championships 2026 will officially open on 1 September 2026 and will close on 23 September 2026.

All contestants are required to submit their music before the closing date to ensure that it is received and processed in time for the Championships.

’n Oop brief aan die gemeenskap van Rustenburg

Vir die afgelope 25 jaar bied ons met trots die South African Championships of Performing Arts (SA Champs) in Rustenburg aan. Vanjaar vind die kampioenskappe plaas vanaf 25 September tot 4 Oktober.

Gedurende hierdie tyd reis duisende deelnemers, hul families en ondersteuners na Rustenburg. Hulle bly in gastehuise en hotelle, eet by restaurante, koop by plaaslike winkels en ondersteun talle besighede. Na raming dra hierdie geleentheid ongeveer R20 miljoen tot die plaaslike ekonomie by.

Ten spyte van hierdie groot ekonomiese voordeel, ontvang ons min of geen ondersteuning van die plaaslike toerismesektor. Wat ons egter die meeste hartseer maak, is dat ons byna geen inskrywings uit Rustenburg self ontvang nie.

Ons bied hierdie wêreldklas geleentheid letterlik op Rustenburg se voorstoep aan. Dit gee jongmense die geleentheid om hul talente te ontwikkel, selfvertroue te bou en hul drome na te jaag. Oor die afgelope 25 jaar het honderde Suid-Afrikaanse deelnemers deur hierdie kompetisie internasionale blootstelling gekry, beurse ontvang en suksesvolle loopbane opgebou.

Ons het alles in ons vermoë gedoen om die gemeenskap te bereik. Ons het skole besoek, bemarking gedoen en inligting versprei. Tog bly deelname uit Rustenburg teleurstellend laag.

Ons wil daarom ’n ernstige beroep doen op ouers, skole, kultuurorganisasies, besighede en die toerismebedryf om saam met ons hierdie geleentheid te ondersteun. Rustenburg beskik oor ongelooflike talent. Kom ons gee daardie talent die kans om te skitter.

Ons nooi die gemeenskap uit om die kampioenskappe te kom ondersteun en self te sien watter geleenthede dit vir ons jeug bied. Meer inligting is beskikbaar deur die South Africa Championships of Performing Arts-toepassing af te laai, waar die volledige program en besonderhede beskikbaar is.

Ons glo steeds in Rustenburg. Ons glo steeds in sy mense. Ons hoop dat hierdie jaar die begin sal wees van groter plaaslike betrokkenheid by ’n geleentheid waarop die hele stad trots kan wees.
