What better way to end a slow day than with a gin and tonic on the patio. It was supposed to be sundowners, but we couldn’t wait 🍹🍹

As a child, did you ever read books under the blankets with a torch? I’m convinced that’s the reason that I needed glasses in grade 5! Even then, I continued to devour books. I loved ‘boys’ books especially - adventure, fantasy, science fiction, stories that captured my imagination and transported me to other worlds. In those days, books always ended on a good note. I was always eager to turn the page and discover what awaited me in the next chapter! Sometimes I was so caught up in the story that I didn’t want the book to end! And I guess that’s what life is also like. The last chapter can be bitter sweet because we don’t know what the next story will be.

It was like magic! After just an hour of drilling, we struck water! Another hour and it was shooting into the air. There was water everywhere. Running down our driveway like a river. I was completely fascinated!

I know I’m scared. I’d like to think I’m being brave! Only time will tell.

It’s a snake - it’s a snail! Every Chinese home cook will know what these are! Cong You Bing, or Chinese spring onion pancakes! Flaky, crispy, buttery pancakes that are more difficult to make than they look. I’ve tried a lot of recipes with no success. These were good. The best I’ve made so far. But still not to the same standard as I once had at a restaurant in Cape Town. Will have to keep trying!

I believe that timing is everything. I really do! But I hate not knowing and I’ve never been good at waiting. Plus there’s a part of me that wants to control what comes next. So while I don’t know what’s next, I do know that I can help the process along. I can set my RAS. I can manifest. But even with these, what happens will happen in its own time. An exercise in trust and patience!

Felt very heavy on the road this morning. But I got the job done! Next month I need to run a little further in the mornings because the first race of the Discovery series starts mid-June! Great to have a target to aim for 🎯

The writing has been on the wall for a few months, my contract may not be extended, but it’s still a disappointment, especially when you feel that the team has seen a huge breakthrough and that there’s still so much more that can be done. But it is what it is and it’s about getting as much done as you can until the very last day!
