St Stithians College Hockey

Day 2 of Stithian Cup. A fantastic tournament ended with hugely entertaining finals, which saw the Dragons win the boys and girls pools. Congratulations to all teams involved in the Stithian Cup.

In November 2023, the foundation was laid to relay the Astro turf, the process highlighted details the progress in just 3 months. The excitement is mounting to the opening of the new Astro in March 2024.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY- SA HOCKEY NEWS

We are incredibly proud of St Stithians Girls’ College student Reabetswe Phume, who has been selected for the SA Hockey 5’s ladies team.

The team will be playing in a World Cup, which will be held in Muscat, Oman (24-31 January 2024). The team will leave on the 20th January 2024 and will be back in SA on 2 February 2024.

Reabetswe has also been called up to be in the Senior ladies hockey squad for the upcoming selection camp for the French series next week.

We wish Reabetswe and the team everything of the best!

We are thrilled to announce that Reabetswe Phume has been selected for the U21 team that will be competing in the Junior World Cup in Chile. Congratulations, Reabetswe Phume, are proud of you ! 🏆🎉

HOLIDAY NEWS - KEPS PREP SCHOOLS HOCKEY FESTIVAL

Over the last week of the school holidays, our U13 hockey boys competed in the KEPS Festival. The boys did exceptionally well, representing St Stithians Boys’ Prep with pride, while playing like champions. The boys went up against some top hockey schools, winning three games, drawing one and losing one. Congratulations to the boys on their tremendous efforts, commitment, and sacrifices during the last week of school holidays.

Miss Hawker reflects: “As a coach, I’m extremely proud of the growth I saw over the festival week. Thank you to Coach Avela for all your hard work in assisting me and for your positive influence on the boys. Thank you to the parents and Mrs Donna d’Elboux for opening up your homes and welcoming the Rondebosch and Northlands boys so wonderfully. Thank you to our parents for your unwavering support and dedication. The success of the boys is testament to the Saints hockey community coming together as one. It’s been a fantastic start to our hockey season and I look forward to seeing the boys go from strength to strength.”

HOLIDAY NEWS - ST JOHN’S HOCKEY FESTIVAL

Our St Stithians Boys’ Prep U12’s worked hard this weekend during the pre-season U12 and U13 mixed festival which was hosted by St John's College. We are extremely proud of the boys who played with good strategy and consistent teamwork. Gratitude goes to our fabulous coaches Marné Van Aarde and Murray Lomberg who have provided an excellent foundation for the season. Our team was unbeaten in their 11 fixtures and conceded no goals. A brilliant weekend where hockey was the winner.

A huge congratulations to Reabetswe Phume from the Girls' College, who has been selected to represent the u18A team.

The SA u18A team will be playing matches against the SA u21 team from 6 -12 July in Bloemfontein.
