Testing is where coaching stops guessing.🫁

Great morning in the Basque Country, northern Spain, assisting Aitor from Alberdi: Science and Performance with incremental running step testing on the track.📊

Progressive workload testing allows us to assess how an athlete responds physiologically as intensity rises, helping identify key markers linked to endurance performance, including:
• Aerobic efficiency
• Lactate dynamics
• Cardiovascular response
• Sustainable training intensity

The goal is simple:
Understand the athlete better so training can become more precise, individualised, and effective.📈

Performance is rarely limited by motivation.
More often, it is limited by physiology that has not yet been properly understood.

Most cyclists are training too hard… polarising, right? 🚴

Zone 2 or VO2 max.
Data or feel.
Strength work or more riding.

Your training bias shapes your performance.

What’s your cycling take? 👇

People only notice sports science when they see the medal, the comeback, or the performance.

What they don’t see is the role it plays long before that moment exists. 👀

Sports science helps children develop safely.
It helps athletes perform sustainably.
It helps injured people return to movement.
It helps everyday people understand their bodies better.
It helps society move, function, recover, and live healthier lives.

Behind performance is research.
Behind recovery is data.
Behind longevity is science. 📊🧠

A sports scientist is not just someone who works with athletes.
They are part coach, part analyst, part educator, and part problem solver, using science to improve human performance and wellbeing in the real world.

The future of health and performance is not guesswork anymore.
It is evidence-based.

4 years of EVO 💙

What started as a vision to combine exercise science, performance, and genuine athlete support has grown into something far bigger than we could have imagined.

To every athlete, parent, partner, supporter, and friend who has trusted us along the way, thank you. Your support, belief, and commitment have allowed EVO to grow year after year, and we never take that for granted.

We are incredibly grateful for the relationships, lessons, challenges, and milestones that have shaped this journey so far.

EVO has never just been about training programs or performance. It has always been about people, growth, and building something meaningful together.

Thank you for being part of these first 4 years. We are only getting started 💪

Racing in hot, dry, high-altitude conditions is something most riders underestimate.

In this clip, Philip Buys shares a simple but important reminder, you’ll lose fluids faster than you think, even if you don’t feel thirsty, and going too hard too early can cost you later in the race.

These are the small details that often decide races.

This is the kind of real-world racing insight we combine with structured coaching and sports science inside Prime Bunch EVO.

We’re trying to build young cyclists who don’t just train harder, but actually understand how to race smarter and develop over time.

Welcome to 2026.

We hope the past few weeks gave you the space to slow down, recover, and gain perspective.
Rest is not a pause in progress, it’s part of it.

A new year isn’t about drastic changes or unrealistic resolutions. It’s about clarity, consistency, and putting the right practices in place to support yourself.
Showing up with intention. Trusting the process. Letting small, disciplined actions compound over time.

As we step into 2026, we’re excited for what lies ahead, growth, learning, performance, and progress done properly.

Wishing you a healthy, focused, and purpose-driven year ahead.

With love,
The EVO Team🫶

Hotter weather is increased physiological stress.

Your body now has two jobs: generate energy and dissipate heat. When you’re not adapted, heart rate climbs(cardiovascular drift), perceived effort rises, and power or pace decline.

Here’s the science:
☀️ Heat acclimation refers to short-term, controlled heat exposure (typically 7–14 days).
🌡️ Heat acclimatisation develops naturally through consistent exposure to a hot environment over time.
Both improve plasma volume, sweating efficiency, heart rate stability, and thermal tolerance, translating to stronger performance in any climate.

Our recommendations:
• Begin with 20–30 minute heat sessions, 3–4 times per week
• Replace fluids to keep weight loss below 2% per session
• Keep high-intensity work cool, use heat exposure after quality sessions
• Track heart rate drift and perceived exertion; they reveal adaptation
• Try to keep cool during intense sessions and during racing as much as possible

The goal isn’t suffering; it’s adaptation.
At EVO, we help athletes turn environmental stress into measurable performance gains.

If you’d like one of our scientists to design a tailored heat adaptation protocol for your training, reach out, we’ll help you make the heat work for you.
