HOPE FC WIN THE ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE BIG PRIZE MONEY
Ten months old club Hope FC dod the unthinkable since they acquired their ABC Motsepe League status. They managed to win the Western Cape Streams and qualified for the play off of being promoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship League.
The first time gor the club worked perfectly as they went all the way to win the National Championship and be crowned the 2026 Champions and took home R.1.25 million prize money at the hands of North West University FC.
Both clubs already promoted to the Motsepe Foundation league locked horns and it was Hope FC that took the first strike anf went to the break in the lead 1-0. NWC showed their character and their hard work paid off as they finally got the much needed equalizer, sending the game to penalties after 90 minutes.
Both teams knew what was at stake anf started off well but it was NWC that saw their penalty spot kick not converted. Hope FC took advantage of the situated and ran with one 1 target, to be victorious.

SAFA.net - South African Football Association ABC Motsepe League Play-Off System Needs Reform.
The current play-off format in the ABC Motsepe League is becoming more questionable every season.
Right now, we have 3 groups of 3 provincial champions, but the system sometimes allows teams to qualify on 4 points while others miss out unfairly due to group imbalance and match outcomes.
In some cases, even final group draws end up deciding who goes through โ not pure performance.
My view is simple:
Let all provincial champions face each other first.
Then reduce the competition to a Top4.
After that, we go straight into:
โ Semi-finals
โ Final
โ 2 teams promoted
This will: Reduce travel & accommodation costs.
It will increase competitiveness and Make every match more meaningful.
Create a fairer promotion system
We are currently asking 9 teams to fight for only 2 promotion spots โ but the structure can be smarter, cleaner, and more competitive.
Time for change in our football development systems.

Old Grey FCโs Unwavering Support Shines at ABC Motsepe League National Play-Offs
While teams battled fiercely on the pitch for promotion, Eastern Cape side Old Grey Football Club made a powerful impact off the field during the National ABC Motsepe League Promotional Play-Offs in Mthatha.
From day one of the tournament, Old Grey FC showed strong commitment to the growth of South African football through their involvement in sponsorship and football development initiatives. Their presence highlighted a club that is not only focused on competition but also on building the future of the game.
The clubโs leadership continues to play a vital role in its progress:
Football Manager: Nicholas Myataza
Chairman: Mirko Pineda
Head Coach: Wayne Iveson
Assistant Coach: Luigi Ciarrocchi
Each of them contributes to a growing football structure that prioritises development, professionalism, and community impact.
Old Grey FCโs involvement in the national play-offs is a reminder that football success is not only measured by results on the pitch, but also by investment in the sportโs future and grassroots growth.
As the play-offs continue, Old Grey FC stands out as a strong example of how clubs can positively shape South African football beyond the 90 minutes of play.
