So get those costumes ready and dress up your boat cause it’s going no to be a big one 🙌

We urge all skippers to make sure they have their paperwork in order and on the boat. here is a checklist below:

1. Skippers license.
2. COF certificate.
3. Buoyancy certificate.
4. All safety equipment on the boat as required by SAMSA, this should be there if you have a COF certificate.
5. NO CHILD TO BE WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION OR A LIFE JACKET.
6. All skippers are responsible for their boat, their actions and their people aboard. VRRSA are NOT responsible for any boat and the people aboard.
7. No alcohol to be sold or distributed.
We will assist the Waterwing police by monitoring and reporting any boat who misbehaves or are there illegally.

🐊 Croc update - Vaal river🐊

We have been contacted by a lady named Mande Smith who is currently on the water down by Parys (below the Barrage wall).

She has spotted the croc and has confirmed it’s currently in the reeds. She is with it as we speak trying to get a photo/video.

Yes we have spoken to people to let the croc expert know and to possibly go try retrieve it.

We’ll give more information as we receive it.

AIMy is an Autonomous Survey Craft ASC - she is doing an Ultra High Frequency sidescan survey of the river. And yes for the coming tournament as well as World Fishing Games 2027. Note there are two of them on the water currently.

On Sunday, 13 September 2026, The Palace Market opens its gates at The River Palace for the very first time, and this is one worth clearing your Sunday for.

Picture this: a wide spread of food stalls dishing up everything from a quick bite to a proper lazy lunch, deli tables loaded with treats you’ll want to take home, and craft stalls full of the kind of finds you don’t get at a shopping centre. Grab something cold to drink, find a spot with a view, and just watch the boats and the clouds drift by while the afternoon does its thing.

Bring the kids, bring the dog, bring the crew. There’s plenty of space to wander, plenty to browse, and nowhere you need to be in a hurry to get to.

And this isn’t a once-off. The Palace Market runs every second Sunday of the month from September onward, so consider this the river’s new standing Sunday plan.
