Cape Town Irish Dance Championships

What a lovely dance day in Cape Town! So great to see everyone back up on stage dancing again! Well done to everyone and keep up the great work!

We wanted this event to be as sustainable as possible. We aren't there yet but we are slowly making the changes. It's all about lots of small changes!

The day before the feis(Irish dancing competition) I had everything under control and everything was going as planned(yes, I can plan). Then my mom asked, what trophies do you have for the trophy dance? I knew we had trophies for the championships but then realized I completely forgot about the trophy dances!

So half a day and night before the comp I am running around like a mad person looking for trophies. The only option was an Oscar trophy, for Irish dancing. Didn’t make sense at all......

I then asked myself how can we turn this somewhat disastrous situation into something great and awesome?

What can we give the dancers that is super cool, practical and won’t just collect dust on their shelves?

That’s when the funky socks idea was born. We decided to buy Versus Socks because, apart from being made here in south africa, they have THE best designs and are so comfortable to wear while training.

So we called our trophy dance the sock dance😋

For those of you who don't know who they are, they are usually photographing sports events from the back of motorbikes with feathers on their helmets. Don't worry, they can also clean up quite well and can photograph any type of genre:) From Wild horses to sailing races in Tanzania, from extreme sports events to weddings, they can do it all. They have a great eye for seeing the detail and are well known for capturing the atmosphere and spirit of any event.
