🚜 Tractor Driving Training Officially Underway!

We are excited to announce the successful commencement of a 12-day Tractor Driving Training for 10 participants under the – Project.

The training was officially opened by the Ministry of Agriculture Chief Engineer (Agricultural Mechanisation), Mr. Joseph Phakati, who emphasized the importance of mechanisation in improving agricultural productivity and sustainability.

Over the next 12 days, participants will gain hands-on and practical skills in:

✅ Tractor driving (leading to licensing)
✅ Tractor safety and maintenance
✅ Basic GPS use in agriculture
✅ Operation of key implements including:
• Boom sprayer
• Planter
• Ripper
• Disc harrow
• Trailers

This training is a significant step toward empowering farmers and enhancing mechanisation capacity within the sector.

Winter wheat planting is underway! 🌱
The conventional 5 hectares have now been planted, complementing the other 5 hectares under conservation agriculture that were planted just 3 days ago.
It’s always exciting to see both systems side by side — a practical comparison of approaches as we continue promoting sustainable and productive farming practices.
Looking forward to monitoring crop performance, soil health, and overall outcomes in the coming weeks.

🌱 Training in Progress at Keembe Farm Institute! 💧

The Agricultural Knowledge and Training Centre (AKTC) is excited to be conducting a 4-day intensive training at Keembe Farm Institute from 20th to 23rd April 2026.

📚 Training Focus Areas:
✔️ Soil Health & Composting – understanding soil fertility, organic matter management, and sustainable composting techniques
✔️ Irrigation & Vegetable Production – efficient water use, irrigation systems, and best practices for high-value vegetable crops

Participants are gaining valuable knowledge and practical experience aimed at improving productivity, sustainability, and resilience in farming systems.
