Good evening, I would like to give some few information that I have gathered on a tragic accident involving a father and his son who were transporting bricks using an ox cart.
According to information from the child’s grandfather, the accident happened approximately 20 metres away from m8 road. The ox cart reportedly lost control while it was loaded with brinks, causing the father to jump off and try to stop the oxen. The child remained on the ox-cart, fell off, and was struck by one of the cart’s wheels.
The child sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital by the grandfather, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. The father was not injured.
This report is based on information provided by the child’s grandfather. May the child’s family find strength during this difficult time.

YOUNG MANYINGA BUSINESSMAN DROWNS IN KABOMPO RIVER AT KAVINDELE FALLS

A young businessman from Manyinga District Charles Kambita, popularly known as Felicia's Boutique, has drowned in the Kabompo River at Kavindele Falls.

The incident occurred this afternoon, Sunday 20th September 2026, when Mr. Kambita and others had gone to swim at the falls.

Efforts to retrieve his body from the river are currently underway.

Police are yet to release an official statement.

TWO DEAD, TWO INJURED IN RDA VEHICLE CRASH

Two people have died while two others are receiving treatment at Chinsali General Hospital following a road traffic accident involving a Road Development Agency vehicle in Chinsali District.

According to ISO FM, Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer Lubinda Mayamba said the accident occurred around 13:00 hours at Chipunga Village along the Great North Road today.

Mr Mayamba said an RDA Toyota Hilux, registration number GRZ 167 EA, driven by 40-year-old Mannaseh Mwenya of Chiwanada area in Isoka, collided with a Howo Sino truck and trailer that was parked off the road.

According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that the driver allegedly attempted to overtake improperly, lost control of the Hilux and rammed into the stationary truck.

Mr Mayamba said two passengers, a man and woman whose identities have not yet been established, died on the spot after sustaining severe head injuries.

He identified the injured passengers as Exildah Mutale, 41, and Chrispin Bwalya, 51, who are currently admitted to Chinsali General Hospital.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examinations.

Police say the driver later reported himself to Isoka Police Station, where he has been detained for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving, as investigations continue.

‎ELEPHANT KILLS 29-YEAR-OLD MAMBWE MAN

‎A 29-year-old man of Kabamba Village in Chief Nsefu’s area of Mambwe District has died after being attacked by an elephant.
‎
‎The incident occurred on Saturday, September 5, 2026, around 06:00 hours in Chamadaka area, about 700 metres from the Luangwa River.
‎
‎Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba has identified the deceased as Tumbwe Besa.
‎
‎Mr. Mweemba says Mr Besa was cycling ahead of his brother, Moffart Besa, and friend, Michael Banda, as the trio headed to the Luangwa River to order fish.
‎
‎He says Mr. Besa abandoned his bicycle and ran into the bush after spotting an elephant, while his companions fled in different directions.
‎
‎Mr. Mweemba states that the two later returned to search for him, but could not immediately locate him.
‎
‎He adds that after about an hour of searching, they found Mr Besa dead approximately 50 metres from the narrow road they had been using.
‎
‎Mr. Mweemba says police officers and personnel from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife visited the scene and inspected the body, which had multiple head injuries and bruises.

‎He adds that police do not suspect foul play and the body has since been deposited in Mambwe District Mortuary awaiting burial arrangements.

A Jodan bus carrying school children caught fire in Lufunsa at around 10:00 hours today while travelling from Lusaka heading east. No injuries have been reported, as people at the scene quickly moved in to help contain the fire, which has since been brought under control. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
