*Do it Faithfully*
*Today's Reading:* Numbers 31 - 33
_“Exact vengeance for the Israelites on the Midianites - after that you will be gathered to your people.”_ *Numbers 31:2*

Imagine you are told you won't be needed in a company in the next few days. How is your attitude between the time you are given a notice and the final day. Its a true test of one's character.
Moses here is being given one of his final big assignments, to avenge the Midianites. That is why this man was referred to as the meekest man, God tells him after avenging the Midianites he was going to die but still executes the assignment faithfully. How do you respond to God's assignments when you know you won't even be there after all?
It is always vital to execute the LORD's instructions to the letter. When the Israelites where told to kill the Midianites, they only killed the men and left the women. But it was actually the women who led Israel into idolatry, by having sexual relations with them. Moses commanded that every woman be killed who was involved in those acts.
Look deep in your life, deal seriously with the roots of your problems and not the fruit (Jeremiah 1:10). Situations in your life will not change or might keep recurring because the roots are not uprooted.
Don't settle for second best. The tribes of Reuben, Gad and half tribe of Manasseh asked Moses if they could settle right in that place they were instead of the Promised Land. God has the best of life for you (John 10:10).
*Prayer:*
Father God, I come to you this morning knowing that the battle belongs to You. Help me fight and uproot whatever might be a hindrance in my life in walking with You. I know that we do not fight flesh and blood. May I leave to see all Your promises for my life. Amen‎
*Thought:* True test of your character. How do you respond when you have been given an assignment to do something for others and you have been punished, so you won't benefit from it?

*December 26*

*The Beasts and the Lamb*
*Today's Reading* Revelation 13-15‎
_Then I looked, and behold—there was the Lamb standing on Mount Zion. Gathered with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads._ *Revelation 14:1*

In chapter 13 two other beasts emerge. John sees the first beast rising from the sea. He is like the dragon (12:3), with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on his horns and blasphemous names on its heads (13:1). The dragon who is Satan gave his power, his throne and great authority (13:3) to this beast. The beast attracted and demanded worship instead of giving it to God. So, this beast was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.
It uttered blasphemy against God and all who dwell in heaven, could make war on the saints (believers in Jesus) and to conquer them temporarily. Remember he was overcome eternally by the word of their testimony and the blood of the Lamb (12:11). Was also given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation, and everyone who dwell on earth, (13:7). This is the right opposite of Christ hence the anti-Christ.
First John 2:18 tells us that he the anti-Christ is coming. And as such there has been speculations of who this man is or even where he will come from. Certain world leaders have been speculated as the ones but have died and the end has not come. He will be known exactly once he shows up.
We are told he will fight the Saints, meaning when he shows up not only will he demand worship but will fight all those who oppose him or refuse to worship him.
He will mark his own on their foreheads or hands with the number 666. This will be a unique identifier of his own. No one will be allowed to buy or sell without this mark. This mark is the name or number of this beast. Christians are not to take this mark but will have a different mark (14:1).
Then the second beast will appear. This beast will fight from within the church unlike the first (the anti-Christ) who will be a political figure and world leader fighting from outside. It appears like a lamb with two horns but speaks like a dragon (13:11). It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast (13:12). "It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth…" (13:13, 14). This will be the false prophet. Performing miracles by the power given him by the first beast (satan, the dragon). And will begin to push both small and great to be marked with the number (666) of the first beast.
In chapter 14 John sees Jesus Christ the Lamb with 144,000 marked with the Lamb and His Father's name written on their foreheads (14:1). These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women for they are virgins, they follow the Lamb wherever He goes, have been redeemed as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, and are blameless, never lied before (14:4, 5).
He moves on to talk about three angels and their messages. Then a third angel followed them, shouting, “Anyone who worships the beast and his statue or who accepts his mark on the forehead or on the hand must drink the wine of God’s anger. It has been poured full strength into God’s cup of wrath. And they will be tormented with fire and burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name.” (14:9-11).
We also see a beatitude, "Blessed are the dead who die in the LORD from now on" (14:13). Used a lot in funerals now though referring from that time on probably to those dying in the tribulation.
*Prayer:*
Lord may my eyes continually be open to You. May I know the times and seasons I am living in. Help me to remain faithful to You in Jesus name. Amen
*Thought:* Do you I know Jesus enough that I cannot be deceived?

*December 10*

*Jesus is Superior to All*
*Today's Reading* Hebrews 1-3
_“Having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”_ *Hebrews 1:4*

Hebrews shows the superiority of Jesus Christ to the prophets, angels, Moses, Joshua, the temple etc. He is greater than everything.
God spoke in the past through His prophets as we see reading through the Old Testament but has in these last days spoken through His Son Jesus Christ (1:1, 2). Whom He appointed the heir of all things and through whom also He created the world (11:3, John 1:3). He is the Radiance of the glory of God and the imprint of His nature (1:3) and after making a way for our salvation, He sat down at the right hand of the Father. Hallelujah!!! He became superior to angels even by His name which is above every name (Ephesians 1:21, Philippians 2:9).
He is worthy of our worship even angels worship Him (1:6). This goes to show us that Jesus Christ is God, for ‎only God can and is to be worshiped. He is God (1:8) and His throne and rulership is everlasting. Then chapter 1:9, says, God even Your God. Chapter 1:10, shows us He is the One who laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning and that the heavens are the work of His hands. Heaven and earth will pass away but He remains.
The first of the four warnings we'll see in this book appears in chapter 2:1, a warning against drifting from the faith. How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? God bore witness to this salvation by signs and wonders and by gifts distributed according to His Will (2:4).
Jesus died on the cross that through His death, He‎ might destroy the one who has the power of death, the devil (2:14). So, death has no power over those who are in Christ. And Jesus Christ was also tempted but never sinned and hence He is able to help us when we are tempted (2:18). And Paul tells us, no temptation has taken us except that which is common to every man...and to every temptation God provides a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). So, whenever you are tempted, remember Jesus was tempted too but never sinned and that He has not left you alone, but He is providing a way of escape. ‎
‎. Chapter 3 shows how that Jesus Christ was far Greater than the great prophet Moses (3:3). These Jewish Christians thinking about what they were "losing" thought of the great Moses but the author of this book, shows, "Jesus is Greater." There is also an encouragement to those hearing the Word of God not to harden their hearts (3:7-8). You probably have not received or accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, today is the day of your salvation, find a Christian somewhere to help you.
*Prayer:*
Above all things You are Jesus. May I acknowledge every day that all things are under Your feet and teach me to bring my challenges where they belong, under Your feet. Thank You for giving me a special place in Your Kingdom. In your Jesus name. Amen
*Thought:* Have I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord over my life, and do I allow Him to rule and guide me?
