has donated a set of football jerseys to Lady Bug Queens Academy following the team’s impressive achievement of being crowned Champions of the FAZ Division One Women Zone B in Mpika District for the 2025/2026 season.

The handover ceremony took place at the Civic Centre on Wednesday as the team intensifies preparations for the Muchinga Provincial Play-Offs scheduled for 23rd May 2026 in .

Lady Bug Queens Academy will compete against fellow district champions from Chinsali and Nakonde in the provincial play-offs. The winning team will earn the honour of representing Muchinga Province at the national finals set to take place in in June 2026.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Community Development Officer Mr. Mwale Kalifungwa said the Council remains committed to promoting sports development among young people in the district.

“Government, through the local authority, continues to support sports because it helps keep youths active, disciplined, and away from negative activities. We are proud of Lady Bug Queens and we believe they will represent Mpika well in Nakonde,” said Mr. Kalifungwa.

Meanwhile, Lady Bug Queens Academy Manager Ms. Mercy Mwila expressed gratitude to the Council for the timely support, saying the donation will greatly motivate the team ahead of the crucial provincial competition.
