What a way to celebrate African Freedom Day!

This Monday, our girls took part in the *African Freedom Day Tournament* hosted by *Sunrise*, and we’re proud to announce that Rise and Shine Sports Academy came out on top*!

Out of 5 teams, our girls showed heart, skill, and teamwork to clinch *1st Place*. Special shoutout to *Mercy Mumba* who was named *Player of the Tournament* for her outstanding performance. 🌟

Huge thanks to Sunrise for hosting and to all the teams for great competition.

*MHM CLUB LAUNCH: A RESOUNDING SUCCESS! ⚽🌸*

Today we made history at Salama Park Grounds. In partnership with Kambo Health, Rise And Shine Football Academy officially launched the *FIRST EVER Menstrual Health & Hygiene Club in Football* — and what a day it was!

*Why This Launch Matters:*
For too long, menstruation has been a silent barrier keeping adolescent girls off the pitch. Missed training sessions, shame, lack of information, and limited access to products have cost many girls their confidence and their place in sport. Not anymore.

*The Launch Was a Success Because:*
1. *Turnout & Energy:* The girls showed up, asked bold questions, and owned the space. The curiosity and openness were unmatched.
2. *Safe Space Created:* For the first time, our players had a platform to talk freely about periods without stigma, led by trained facilitators from Kambo Health.
3. *Knowledge Shared:* The girls learned practical MHM skills — tracking cycles, managing symptoms, hygiene practices, and debunking myths that hold them back.
4. *Ambassadors Born:* We identified our first cohort of MHM ambassadors. These girls will now lead peer-to-peer education, making sure no teammate is left behind.

*Impact on the Girls:*
- *Confidence:* Girls now understand their bodies and can manage their periods without fear or shame.
- *Consistency:* Fewer missed trainings and matches due to period-related challenges.
- *Leadership:* Our ambassadors are gaining public speaking and advocacy skills that go beyond football.
- *Health:* Access to accurate info means healthier choices and reduced risk of infection.

*Impact on the Community:*
- *Breaking Stigma:* Parents, coaches, and male peers joined the conversation. We’re normalizing periods in football spaces.
- *Ripple Effect:* Each girl trained becomes a messenger at home, school, and in her community. The knowledge spreads.
- *Keeping Girls in Sport:* When we remove period barriers, we keep more girls playing longer, chasing scholarships, and dreaming bigger.

A Blueprint: This is the first MHM Club in football, but it won't be the last. We're setting a model other academies can replicate.

This is more than a club. It's a movement to ensure every girl can step onto the pitch with dignity, every day of the month.

This month, Kambo Health in partnership with Rise and Shine Sports Academy is proud to introduce the first ever MENSTRUAL HEALTH & HYGIENE (MHM) Club in Football!

Through this exciting initiative, young girls will be empowered with knowledge, confidence, and life-changing skills around menstrual health and hygiene — becoming ambassadors who will inspire and educate their peers in the community. 💪🏾✨
