Only two of the nine Zambians on the Top 10 list of goal scorers in the just ended ZPL Women's Super League 2025/2026 have been selected by Copper Queens coach Nora Häuple for the upcoming four-nation tournament.

ZESCO Ndola Girls duo of Avell Chitundu and in-form Eneless Phiri are the only players selected by Häuple.

Red Arrows' Mary Mambwe, ZANACO Ladies forward Regina Chanda and Ngosa Chabwe of Indeni Roses who have recently been regular members of the squad were snubbed.

Is it justified?

FACT KICK

Striker Patson Daka is the first and only Zambian player in history to score 20+ goals in a European topflight league season.

Daka made history during the 2019/2020 season of the Austrian Bundesliga when he scored 24 goals in 31 matches for Red Bull Salzburg.

He repeated the feat during the 2020/2021 season by netting an impressive 27 goals in 28 matches in the Austrian topflight.

Few Zambians have come close with striker Mwape Miti top on the list.

During the 2002/2003, Miti scored 19 goals for Odense BK in the Danish Super League. He was the joint-top scorer that season and went on to become a club legend.

Without continental consideration, one name that stands out is Collins Mbesuma who netted an all time record of 25 goals for Kaizer Chiefs during the 2004/2005 season.

Do you know any player that scored more?
