Understanding Depression..
Think about it like this; if you're driving your car and need to stop, what do you do? You'd depress the brakes, right? you push them down!
β
βNow, what does it mean to depress something? It means to push it down.
β
βSo, what gets pushed down in depression? the answer is: EMOTIONS/FEELINGS.
β
βNow, why would someone push down their emotions?
β
βImagine this: there's a young man out there who's going through a tough time, he wants to express his emotions, but he is afraid that people will deem him as weak and not man enough.
β
β& because he doesn't want to be seen as weak, he chooses to push down his emotions to look man enough, which later on fuels depression. Do you get it?

The Lonely Generation:
We engage with our devices on social media from the minute we wake up until we go to bed. Sometimes we even take our devices into the restroom, and we even eat with them. Yet, we are hardly connecting with people in real life.
Social media is not the same as social connection with human beings in real life, because we are creatures of attachment, from childhood until adulthood, and that does not change.
We have always evolved as social beings, but nowadays, we prefer being on social media to being with people. When life hits us, that is when we realize we haven't built any meaningful relationships with people to confide in.
Hence, loneliness and depression rise, and the screen becomes our family. Could this also be a reason for the rise in su***de cases?
Good morning y'all...
May this day be as beautiful as your smile βΊοΈ.

WE SET BOUNDARIES WITH PEOPLE, BUT WE FAIL TO SET BOUNDARIES WITH OUR PHONES (SCREEN TIME).
Notice how the first thing you touch when you wake up is your phone, and the last thing you touch before going to bed is your phone?
Also, notice how you move from room to room with your phone, and how you can't seem to put it in your pocket even when you are around people?
Well, that's because you and I haven't set boundaries with our phones; we allow a tool to use us instead of us using the tool. And it's not doing us any good because we slowly become addicted.
It's stealing our presence from people. It's stealing our alone time. It's killing our attention span.
