FOOTBALLFOCUS: KAKAWORLD’S TEAM OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3
With Matchday 3 of the 2026 ZPL Women Super Division Transitional Season now in the books, Kakaworld presents his Team of the Week.
A week filled with standout individual performances, important goals, defensive masterclasses and players who stepped up when their teams needed them most. Here is the XI that caught my eye. 👀
🧤 GOALKEEPER - ANNA MUKUMBUTA - ZANACO LADIES
•A huge part of Zanaco Ladies’ perfect start. Anna played a key role in the Bankers’ narrow 1–0 victory over Yasa Queens, making several important saves along the way and recording her third consecutive clean sheet.
🛡️ DEFENDERS
🔹 RIGHT-BACK: DORCUS KUPANDA - KANSANSHI QUEENS
•Solid and dependable on the right side of the newly promoted Side. Kupanda played an important role in Kansanshi’s 2–1 victory over FC Leopards Queens, helping her side secure a second consecutive win in their first-ever Super Division campaign.
🔹CENTRE-BACK: CONSTANCE KAMUSU - ZANACO LADIES
•A commanding performance from the Zanaco captain. Kamusu was a rock at the back as the Bankers secured their third consecutive victory, keeping Yasa Queens at bay in a narrow 1–0 win. Leadership, composure and defensive solidity.
🔹 CENTRE-BACK: GRACE MWENYA - AMEZAM TAMANGA QUEENS
•Despite AmeZam Tamanga Queens 4–0 defeat to The Elite Ladies, Mwenya stood out defensively. She battled hard, won numerous duels and produced a strong individual performance at the back before receiving a late red card.
🔹LEFT-BACK: MELISSA MATABA - YASA QUEENS
•One of Yasa’s standout performers despite the narrow defeat to Zanaco Ladies. Mataba balanced her defensive responsibilities with her willingness to contribute going forward and put in a composed performance on the left.
🧠 MIDFIELDERS
🔸MARY MUSUNGA - FC LEOPARDS QUEENS
•Another impressive showing from Musunga. She continued to make her presence felt for the Kabwe-based newcomers and capped her performance with a goal in their 2–1 away defeat to Kansanshi Queens.
🔸HILDAH KANGWA - THE ELITE LADIES
•The star of the show. Hildah was directly involved in three of The Elite Ladies’ four goals, scoring once and providing two assists in their commanding 4–0 victory over AmeZam Tamanga Queens. A standout performance and arguably the individual display of the round.
🔸TAMIKA SIMPAMBA - CHOMA WARRIORS ACADEMY
•The midfield architect for Choma Warriors Academy. Simpamba dictated play, opened her account for the season and played a key role in helping her side secure their first-ever Super Division victory, a vital 2–1 win over ZISD FC.
🔸ELIZABETH CHISHIMBA - TRIDENT QUEENS
•A performance that demanded attention. Chishimba was the Alpha and Omega in Trident Queens’ impressive 3–0 victory over Kamfinsa Blue Eagles Queens, scoring all three goals in the first half to single-handedly guide her side to their second victory of the campaign.
⚔️ FORWARDS
🔹CHRISTINE KABANDAMA - NCHANGA RANGERS QUEENS
•A powerful display from the Nchanga Rangers Queens forward. Christine scored twice in her side’s emphatic 5–0 victory over Amazing Grace FC, playing a vital role as the Queens secured their first win of the season.
🔹CHRISTINE ZIMBA - NATIONAL ASSEMBLY WOMEN
•A match-winning performance when her team needed it most. Zimba scored a first-half brace to inspire National Assembly Women to their first victory of the campaign after opening the season with two defeats.
👔 COACH OF MATCHWEEK 3 - TAFARA PHIRI : NCHANGA RANGERS QUEENS
•A first victory in the dugout for Tafara Phiri and what a way to get it. After defeats in his opening two fixtures, Phiri guided Nchanga Rangers Queens to a ruthless 5–0 victory over Amazing Grace FC. A commanding response and a statement win for the Queens.
