🎾 UNZA TENNIS DUO BOW OUT TO EGYPT, HOSTS 🇿🇲🇪🇬
That Guy writes...
In an unfortunate turn of events, the UNZA Tennis duo has bowed out of the 12th All Africa University Games, falling to the host nation, Egypt. 🇪🇬
It may not have been the result we hoped for, but it was a good run for our players.
🎾 MEN’S TENNIS
Our Male Tennis Captain, Men’s UNZA Seed 1 and 5th-ranked national player, Nakalanga Hamayangwe, bowed out at the Quarter-Final stage after losing to Egypt’s Mahmoud Fathallah, the tournament’s No. 2 seed.
🎾 WOMEN’S TENNIS
Today, our Female Tennis Captain, Women’s UNZA Seed 1 and 2nd-ranked national player, Natasha Chewe, suffered a Semi-Final defeat to Egypt’s Hana Ehab Mokhles.
Natasha’s performance was made even more challenging by what is suspected to have been food poisoning.
Reflecting on her performance, Natasha said:
“I gave it away, I could have done better.”
Despite the setback and battling illness, Natasha has still managed to return home with a Bronze Medal, adding another accolade to an already impressive tennis career. 🥉🇿🇲
🏆 NEXT STOP: MIKA TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Natasha now returns home to prepare to defend her title at the Mika Tennis Tournament.
Both Nakalanga Hamayangwe and Natasha Margaret Chewe will be taking part, giving them another opportunity to compete at the highest level and represent UNZA. 🎾🔥
Not the ending we wanted. But the journey continues.
ONE TEAM. ONE DREAM. ONE UNZA🇿🇲💚
