TIE YOUR LACES, BUILD YOUR FUTURE
Every time a young player bends down to tie their laces, they are doing more than preparing for basketball, they are preparing for life. Tying your laces is a symbol of responsibility. It is a reminder that success begins with taking care of the small things before being trusted with bigger ones.
At our academy, we believe that basketball is a tool for building responsible individuals who will make positive contributions to society. Just as properly tied laces help a player move confidently and safely on the court, strong values help a person navigate life with discipline, respect, integrity, and accountability.
Leadership begins with personal responsibility. A true leader does not wait for others to act first; they lead by example. They show good behavior, make wise decisions, support others, and remain committed to doing what is right even when no one is watching. These qualities are developed through daily habits, teamwork, and character-building experiences.
When young athletes learn to be responsible teammates, they also learn to become responsible citizens. They grow into individuals who inspire others, serve their communities, and contribute to the greater good of society.

Fresh from graduating from our Under-16 program, our Under-19 claimed 1st Place at the 3x3 Basketball Tournament hosted by Sports in Action.
In a highly competitive and closely contested final, the team showed great composure and determination to defeat Kabwata Tigers and lift the tournament trophy.
This achievement reflects the hard work, discipline, and development of our players as they continue their journey within the academy.

The Art of Shooting a Basketball
Shooting a basketball is more than just throwing the ball at the rim, it's a combination of balance, technique, focus, and repetition. Great shooters make the game look simple because they have mastered the fundamentals.
Key Elements of a Great Shot
🏀 Balance
Feet shoulder-width apart.
Knees slightly bent.
Stay balanced from the ground up.
🏀 Eyes on the Target
Focus on the front or back of the rim, whichever works best for you.
Keep your eyes locked on the target throughout the shot.
🏀 Elbow In
Your shooting elbow should be directly under the ball.
This creates a straight shooting line.
🏀 Follow Through
Extend your arm fully.
Snap your wrist and hold your follow-through.
Imagine "reaching into the cookie jar" or letting your hand rest in the rim.
🏀 Arc and Touch
A higher arc gives the ball a better chance of going in.
Shoot with soft touch rather than force.

Graduating from our Under 19 setup to the upper category under the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) is Starnley, commonly known as “Buga.” Known for his clean and legit pull-up shot, calm composure on the ball, and being highly vocal on the court, Buga brings leadership, energy, and confidence every time he steps onto the floor.
From wearing our colors since Under 10, he has stayed committed to the academy’s journey, growing through every stage with dedication and consistency. His voice on the court reflects his passion for the game and his willingness to lead and encourage teammates in every situation.
Buga is truly one of the academy’s own, a real son of our home who represents our culture, values, and identity with pride. His journey from the junior ranks to the upper category is a testament to patience, discipline, and trusting the process.
As he graduates into the upper category under ZBF, we celebrate not only his talent but also the character and leadership he carries. The academy is proud to see one of its own continue to rise and inspire the next generation. Once a Buffalo, always a Buffalo. 🦬🏀

Graduating from our Under 19 setup to the upper category under the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) is Charles, commonly known as “Snake Muscle.” A true son of the academy, Charles has proudly represented our badge since Under 10, growing through every stage with loyalty, discipline, and commitment to the Buffalo Youth Basketball Academy journey.
Currently pursuing a Diploma in Registered Nursing at Defence School of Health Sciences, Charles continues to prove that education and basketball can move hand in hand.
On the hardwood, Snake Muscle is known for his fearless mentality, hustle-until-forever attitude, and ability to step up in big moments. Whether it is making a clutch play, diving for loose balls, defending bigger opponents, or bringing energy when the team needs it most, Charles always leaves everything on the floor. His versatility allows him to comfortably play nearly every position on the court, making him one of the most complete and reliable players to come through our system.
His journey is a reminder that trusting the process always pays off.The future is bright, and we are proud to see one of our own continue to rise.🏀🔥

No matter the size, strength, or challenge in front of him, Mamba accepts every defensive assignment with heart and toughness.
Timothy is not just another player graduating through the system, he is one of the true roots of the academy. From wearing our colors since Under 10 to now stepping into the senior basketball stage, he represents what Buffalo Youth Basketball Academy stands for: loyalty, discipline, growth, sacrifice, and trust in the process.
Season after season, he continued to sharpen his game, earning respect through hard work, commitment, and consistency. His journey is proof that development takes patience and that greatness is built over time.
