🎣 JCB SPRING CLASSIC — ENTRIES CLOSE SOON! 🎣

All completed entry forms and full payment of entry fees must be received by end of day on Friday, 4 September 2026.

An entry will only be regarded as confirmed once both the completed entry form and payment have been received.

Please also note that Mwomboshi Dam will close for fishing on Sunday, 6 September 2026 at 18:00. No fishing will be permitted after this time in preparation for the competition.

Event schedule:

Practice Fishing: 18 September, 06:00–16:00
Boat Inspections: 18 September at 16:30
Captain’s Meeting: 18 September at 18:30
Competition Days: 19–20 September 2026
Venue: Mwomboshi Dam

🇿🇲🎣 CONGRATULATIONS, TEAM ZAMBIA! 🎣🇿🇲

The 2026 Region 5 Black Bass Angling Tournament at Tokwe Dam in Zimbabwe has come to an end, with Team Zambia delivering a strong and determined performance to secure third place overall.

Congratulations to Zimbabwe on a well-deserved victory, South Africa on finishing second, and Mozambique for their spirited participation throughout the competition.

We honour every angler who took part. Representing your country at this level requires commitment, discipline, teamwork and many hours of preparation. Each team contributed to an excellent tournament and demonstrated the skill and fellowship that make Region 5 bass angling so special.

To Captain Murray Moore, Vice-Captain Sean Keefe and every member of Team Zambia: thank you for representing our country with pride. Your performance, sportsmanship and dedication have made the Zambian bass-angling community proud.

We also extend our appreciation to the hosts, organizers, officials, support teams and everyone who helped make the tournament a success.

Safe travels home, Team Zambia. We look forward to welcoming you back! 🇿🇲👏

Congratulations to John Cruser on landing this magnificent 4.17 kg Largemouth Bass at Mwomboshi Dam—the largest bass ever recorded from the dam.

It's catches like these that remind us why we keep coming back to the water. Every cast carries the possibility of landing a fish of a lifetime.

🎣 ZamBass Catch Highlight

Some catches deserve to be celebrated long after they're made.

Here's one of those unforgettable moments—Chungu Kaunda with an impressive 4.06 kg Largemouth Bass, caught at Mwomboshi Dam.

The best part? After a few photos and an unforgettable memory, this magnificent bass was carefully released back into the water to continue growing and thrilling future anglers.

That's what Catch & Release is all about—protecting our fisheries while giving others the opportunity to experience the same excitement.

🎣 Bass Fishing 101 – Meet Zambia's Bass

Did you know that the Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides) is the primary bass species found in Zambia?

First introduced into Chilanga Fish Farm in 1945 according to World Aquaculture Society, the Largemouth Bass has since flourished in many of Zambia's waters and is now found in locations such as Mwomboshi Dam, mulungushi Dam and several uncofirmed Dams across the country.

Known for its explosive strikes, powerful fights, and impressive size, the Largemouth Bass has become the foundation of competitive bass fishing in Zambia. While other bass species exist around the world, the Largemouth Bass is the species that defines our sport here at home.

With the long holiday weekend upon us, why not spend some time on the water? Grab your rod, enjoy Zambia's beautiful lakes and dams, and go catch some bass!
