The National Championship preliminaries in Mansa wrapped up in style, with Kitwe Madalas and MEF Fishers securing wins to advance to the next round, eliminating Mansa Raptors A and Kasama Gizzilies.
Many were left wondering how Madalas managed to knock out the youthful and energetic Raptors. It may seem surprising at first, but the result reflects the strength of experience. Madalas fielded some of the Copperbelt Basketball Associationโs most iconic veterans, including one of the most decorated and talented players in Zambian basketball history, Gabriel Kashimoto. Still defying expectations, Kashimoto has yet to hang up his sneakers, returning once more for what looks like a final run in the ZBF League.

๐ Basketball For Good Festival | Luapula Rising! ๐
Luapula came alive this weekend as the Basketball For Good Festival united young athletes aged 15โ18, local coaches, and community leaders in an inspiring celebration of sport and purpose.
The event, supported by the FIBA Foundation and Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF), focused on empowering youth through basketball and blending skill development with lessons in teamwork, leadership, and community values.
Leading the sessions were Mr. Mwape Konsolo, ZBF Women and Youth Coordinator, and Coach Chansa Chanda, whose mentorship brought energy and insight to every drill and discussion.
From the first tip-off to the final huddle, Luapulaโs young players showed not just talent, but a growing belief in what basketball can do beyond the court, shaping discipline, friendship, and opportunity.
The Luapula Basketball Association extends gratitude to FIBA Foundation and ZBF for investing in the future of youth basketball. The movement is growing, and Luapula is ready for the next step. ๐ช๐พ๐ฅ
