Happy Mothers Day❤️❤️❤️
There is no greater testament to the bond we share as AAC members than the story of Thembie’s first marathon. Stepping up as one of the first women from our club to attempt the grueling 42km distance, she didn't just carry her own ambitions, she carried the spirit of our entire team.
As the clock ticked toward the six-hour mark, the race grounds began to empty. Most participants had long since finished, and even the officials had begun to pack up, seemingly forgetting that there were still runners out on the course.
But AAC does not leave anyone behind.
While others headed home, our members stayed. We reminded the officials that we still had a warrior on the road. Refusing to let her finish in silence, the team went back out onto the course to find her, flanking her for those final meters and helping her cross the finish line with the dignity she deserved.
For Thembie, the physical struggle of those 42 kilometers was met with a powerful mental resolve. When asked what kept her moving, her answer was simple: She knew her family was waiting."Knowing that over 20 people were there just for me, waiting more than four hours after their own races ended is something I will take to my grave. Being welcomed like a hero made every mile worth it."
Thembie’s journey has set a new standard for our club. Her courage, coupled with the unwavering support of the team, is the ultimate motivation for other ladies in the club to take on the 42km challenge.
In the video below, you can witness the soul of our club: AAC members singing hymns and praises, turning a quiet finish line into a celebration of faith, endurance, and family.
This is AAC. We start together, and we finish together.
