Zimbabwe has a huge opportunity sitting in our waste.
Many farmers haven’t realised it yet.
But a few individuals decided to look at waste differently and came for our Black Soldier Fly farming training to learn how they can turn suitable organic waste into something valuable.

Black Soldier Fly farming is a simple concept with a powerful opportunity.
BSF larvae feed on suitable organic waste such as fruit and vegetable waste, kitchen waste and market waste.
As they grow, the larvae develop into a protein rich biomass that can be used as a feed ingredient for poultry, fish, pigs and other livestock.

And this is where it gets interesting for farmers.
Feed is one of the biggest costs in livestock production.
Instead of depending entirely on purchased protein sources, farmers can produce part of their own protein feed through BSF farming.
You are essentially taking something that would have been thrown away and converting it into something that can support your livestock enterprise.

You don’t need huge amounts of land to get started either.
A well managed BSF system can operate in a relatively small space and can be expanded as your production increases.
The opportunity is not just in farming BSF.
It is in creating a system where waste becomes an input, the larvae become a valuable product and your livestock can benefit from locally produced protein.
