A Christmas message from President Welshman Ncube
The Christmas season is upon us once more, this is the time when most of us get the chance to down our tools and spend time with family and friends.
It is a season of joy, a season of good cheer and goodwill to all mankind, Christmas is indeed a time of giving and forgiving. We all have something that we can give or give up for the betterment of our fellow citizens.
The Christmas season signals the near end of the current year and the pending birth of the New Year. It therefore affords us the chance to reflect on the current year, on all the good as well as the ills. It affords us the chance to once again lament the passing on of comrades, family and friends who did not make it to the end of 2011; we remember our party’s late Vice President Gibson Jama Sibanda and many more of our departed comrades. Whilst memories of some of these deaths open up wounds that have not yet healed, the Christmas season is a season of hope.
It is in light of this, that we hope for a better tomorrow, we hope for a rebirth of all the values and virtues that separate us as a people from the rest of the world, a tomorrow where justice and fairness are practiced as enshrined in our constitution, a tomorrow where every Zimbabwean can stand up tall and proudly declare that they belong to this great nation, a tomorrow which will see every Zimbabwean benefitting from his or her country’s resources.
We need an end to violence, we need to see an end to selective sharing of our wealth, and we need to see a transformation of our economy and general well being of our people for the better. We need a change; the people of Zimbabwe deserve a change.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish every Zimbabwean, at home and abroad, a peaceful and merry Christmas filled with love and harmony, let us continue to celebrate our diversity as we herald a prosperous New Year, that will be pregnant with CHANGE, JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS allowing us to fully CELEBRATE OUR DIVERSITY.

MDC YOUTH ASSEMBLY (BYO) STATEMENT ON THE GRANTING OF HIGH COURT ORDER BETWEEN MDC AND PRISCILLA MISIHAIRABWI NKOMO VERSUS ATHUR MUTAMBARA.
The MDC Youth Assembly would like to welcome the Judgement handed down today by Bulawayo High Court Judge Justice Kamocha on the above matter.
The order compels Athur Mutambara to:
(i) Stop purporting to be the President of MDC and from interferring with its structures and organs as well as from exercising any functions or powers vested in the president of MDC
(ii) Stop attending any meeting of whatever description of Principals in the inclusive Gorvenment of Zimbabwe or of any regional or internationall body in the capacity of Principal in the Inclusive Government of Zimbabwe
(iii) To pay costs
The Youth Assembly thereupon conmgratulate the courts of Zimbabwe for showing judiciary Independence and refusing to be saccumb to political manipulation by the Executive.
As an Assembly, we want to assure the world that the judgement handed by the Learned Judge is one of a giant step and milestone towards a reformed judiciary system, free from Zanunisation and control of the Dictatorial Tyrant and his regime.
Today the truth was on trial in the lion's den and the lion tamed itself and allowed Truth to prevail at the end of the day.
Its a victory for the Democratic forces.
As an Assembly we would also like to take this opportunity to encourage Arthur Mutambara to consider returning to his unthinking robots which have over the years made him a pseudo robot who fell prey to his own robotics theories and to robot Mugabe's remote controlling machinations.
The Assembly would also want to encourage all its dedicated cadres to be on vigil and guard the flame of the revolution and fan it as we near the desired destiny of a fair and just Zimbabwe.
In light of the judgement and the approaching elections in 2013, the Assembly would like to direct the Young people in across the Province to jealously guard the party and its leadership and to be ready at any moment in self defence to strike fear into the hearts of the enemy and at the end it all liberate the people of Zimbabwe fort he tentacles of bo***ge that the ZANU PF and its allies have entangled them in.
The circus comes to Bulawayo :
Zanu (PF)’s annual circus arrives in Bulawayo this week, thanks to the continued decline of the former liberation party’s political support in the southern region.

The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe consumer basket for a family of six increased from US$540,80 in October to US$546,34 in November, reflecting a 0,01 percent rise.
The CCZ said the increase in electricity tariffs by Zesa and the impact of reinstatement of duty on some basic commodities caused the increase in theNovember basket.
CCZ said the food basket alone increased from US$158,18 in October to US$163,69 in November reflecting a0.03 percent increase. The food and detergents basket increased from US$171,80 in October 2011 to US$177,34 in November 2011 reflecting a 0,03 percent increase.
"CCZ noted that in the month of October 2011 certain products in the food basket have increased from the previous month, while others have maintained or slightly reduced their prices."
It noted that the price of margarine went up by 14c, white sugar by 15c, tea leaves by 34c, salt by 2c, and meatby 85c. The price of washing soap is said to have gone up by 16c and that of washing powder by 5c.
"However if we benchmark as from theSeptember family basket of US$527, 52 to US$546,34 in November there's a huge increase of US$19 reflecting 0,04 percent, this is a vast increment to come from the pockets of already burdened consumers."
CCZ wants to see a downward movement of prices of basic commodities, especially when the Randhas weakened against the US dollar.
Retailers are quick to increase prices when the Rand strengthens against thedollar and yet they ignore the effect when it is the other way round.
The cost of the CCZ basket for transport, rent, water and electricity, health, education, clothing and footwear has remained at US$369.
Presenting the 2012 national budget recently, Finance Minister Tendai Biti restored duty on some foodstuffs to protect local industry.
He said the development had been necessitated by improved supply of basic goods and also the need to protect local producers.
