*ZESA Employees Arrested As US$28,000 Worth Of Materials*

Four employees of ZESA Holdings at the Karoi Depot have been arrested over the alleged theft of electrical materials worth more than US$28,000.

The suspects are Christen Mutabvure, chief security officer; Emma Kamba, a former customer care clerk; Beloved Mudiwa, a stores clerk; and Blessing Guramatunhu, lead artisan.

The arrests follow a series of incidents between November and December 2025, when electrical cables booked from ZESA Central Stores and Chinhoyi Stores reportedly never arrived at the Karoi Depot.

It is alleged that on 27 November, Kamba and a hired truck driver named Maponga were sent to ZESA Central Stores to collect a drum of 100mm² HDA conductor and 50 metres of 185mm² cable.

Mutabvure, who allegedly authorised the collection, reportedly arrived at the stores, took the 185mm² cable in a ZESA vehicle, and told the hired truck to carry only the drum of conductor.

After leaving the central stores, Mutabvure allegedly stopped along the roadside in Southerton, where unidentified individuals offloaded the drum. The hired truck then continued to Karoi empty.

A similar incident allegedly took place on 5 December, when the same team collected another drum of 100mm² HDA conductor, which again went missing before reaching Karoi.

On 16 December, Mudiwa was reportedly instructed by the CSO to collect 24 metres of 100mm² HDA conductor from Chinhoyi Stores using Mutabvure’s vehicle, but the materials never arrived at Karoi either.

The following day, Mudiwa reported to ZESA’s loss control department that he was being pressured to acknowledge receipt of items he had not seen.

Loss control officers visited Karoi on 30 December to investigate and confirmed the materials were missing.

A report was made to CID Karoi on 2 January 2026, leading to the arrests. The case has been recorded under RRB number 6366625 at Karoi Central Police Station, with the missing materials valued at approximately US$28,142.
