FROM GLEN NORAH TO THE BIG LEAGUES: THE REMARKABLE JOURNEY OF CADSHIP ACADEMY GEM CLIVE “GAMU” KWANGWARI
HARARE, ZIMBABWE – [CADSHIP Stars Youth Soccer Academy]
Cadship Stars is proud to officially highlight the inspirational development story of one of its finest products, Clive “Gamu” Kwangwari. Currently making waves as a standout talent for MWOS FC, Kwangwari’s rise from a Grade 4 schoolboy to a professional football player stands as a masterclass in long-term grassroots mentorship, academic discipline, and athletic dedication.
The Discovery: Ruvheneko Primary School
The journey began in Glen Norah, where CADSHIP Founder and Director, Douglas Chindoza, spotted a rare, raw talent. Kwangwari was only a Grade 5 pupil at Ruvheneko Primary School when Coach Chindoza recognized his immense potential. This crucial identification was made possible through a vital grassroots collaboration: Mr. Mangundu, the Sports Director at Ruvheneko Primary School, played a pivotal role in aiding the process and working hand-in-hand with Chindoza to ensure that "Gamu" successfully joined CADSHIP Stars Academy.
CADSHIP’s Golden "2004 Class": An Elite Generation
While "Gamu" crossed over to Glen Norah for his primary schooling, his home roots remained firmly anchored in the Southlea Park suburbs. In a remarkable twist of local talent concentration, Southlea Park birthed multiple elite football prospects at the exact same time. Under Chindoza's tutelage, Kwangwari became part of a formidable, golden generation at CADSHIP Stars.
Born in 2004, "Gamu" rose through the ranks playing in the exact same age groups for years—documented as far back as their dominant U14 squad in 2018—alongside high-caliber peers who have now broken into competitive senior and top-flight professional structures:
- Blessed Kevin Ndereki: His lifelong Southlea Park compatriot and long-term CADSHIP teammate, whose exceptional performances earned him a major top-tier move to reigning Castle L***r Premier Soccer League champions, Simba Bhora FC.
- Arthur Nyamupfukudza: A brilliant contemporary from the same age cohort who successfully transitioned into elite structures, taking his talents to top-flight heavyweights Ngezi Platinum Stars.
- Promise Mushayabasa: Another elite graduate of this high-performing CADSHIP crop, who has successfully stepped into senior football and is currently showcasing his talent at Vhembe FC.
-Brendon Mubvuta: A foundational defensive block and technical pillar who anchored that elite 2004 backline alongside Gamu for years, cementing himself as one of the academy's most reliable structural graduates.
Overcoming Adversity: A Story of Resilience
Behind "Gamu’s" success is a story of unwavering resilience in the face of deep financial adversity. Raised by a dedicated single mother who faced immense hardships providing for her three children, Kwangwari—the second born—consistently showed the heart of a fighter. Recognizing the boy’s talent and the family's struggle, Director Douglas Chindoza stepped in personally to anchor his future, fully financing "Gamu’s" school fees, uniforms, and textbooks.
The young athlete mirrored this dedication on the dusty roads of Harare. Determined to make his sessions, Kwangwari would regularly walk all the way from his home in Southlea Park to Highfield just to step onto the training pitch.
A Holistic Approach: Greater Success College
Coach Chindoza’s philosophy has always extended beyond the pitch, emphasizing the importance of academic grounding alongside athletic excellence. To ensure a balanced future, Kwangwari completed his studies at Greater Success College in Highfield, an institution where Chindoza serves as Director. Under this holistic guidance, "Gamu" developed the intellectual discipline, character, and mental fortitude required to survive and thrive at the highest levels of competitive sport.
The Tactical Hybrid: Confirmed Versatility & Goal-Scoring Power
On the field, Kwangwari developed into a true tactical hybrid. Known for his extraordinary versatility, "Gamu" is a dynamic modern player capable of excelling in virtually any position on the pitch. While he can dictate play from midfield or stretch defenses as a clinical winger, he is equally comfortable operating as an imposing center-back or leading the line as a traditional forward—complete with a sharp eye for scoring crucial goals.
Academy records explicitly highlight his goal-scoring threat throughout his development, including a spectacular two-goal brace for the U16s against Yadah in 2019 and clinical finishing for the U18s against BOSA Academy in 2021. In his own words, Clive has publicly confirmed this tactical flexibility, noting that his ability to comfortably adapt to whatever role the technical team assigns him is a core strength built into his game since his developmental days.
The Breakthrough: From Division 2 to MWOS FC
For years, Kwangwari honed his technical skills and physical traits on the local pitches under Chindoza's watchful eye. The intensive training bore fruit when, at just 17 years old, Kwangwari transitioned from playing competitive grassroots football in Division 2 to sign with MWOS FC. Today, he stands as a testament to the power of Zimbabwe's junior pathways, regularly earning plaudits for his high work rate and maturity on the ball—traits fostered during his foundational years at CADSHIP.
A Message from Director Douglas Chindoza
"Watching Gamu grow from a young boy in Glen Norah to a disciplined professional athlete has been immensely rewarding. His journey alongside his brilliant 2004 peers—Kevin, Arthur, Promise, and Brendon—proves that when you catch talent early, nurture it with patience, and support it with a solid education, there are no limits to what our youth can achieve. Clive embodies the true spirit of CADSHIP Stars and Greater Success College."
