Layla rolling into 2020 with her homies, Miles and Brooklyn. When asked what she’d like to work towards improving on this year her response was, “I want to be able to read books”. We’ll work hard on it all year, babygirl! Happy new year, folks!

Today there was breakfast, a nap, a Harry Potter tour, two dinners, and drinks at the top of a walkie talkie. I love when my husband will do dorky things with me even though they’re not necessarily his speed. We take solo moments or entire days when we travel and I thought Harry Potter would be a part of my solo act but he was in and we had fun together. @ London, United Kingdom

I love to read. I still remember when that switch flipped for me in mid-elementary and, ever since then, books have become some of my favorite escapes or breaks from reality. My love for books has nothing on my love for my kids, though. With all that they are expected to learn each year, finding pockets of time to just let them choose a book and give them time to read can be hard but it brings me so much joy to watch them book shop, find a cozy spot and dive into a book without caring about its level. I hope that they can walk away from their schooling with a love for books and the stories they tell. (They have flexible seating and get to make themselves comfy for reading and work times.) @ San Jose, California
