Client Testimony:

We reached out to Anri when our littlest was 10 months old and still waking up every 2-3 hours during the night to drink or cry. Or drink and cry.
We were tired.
Our tired was tired.
And everyone was tired of being tired.

Even though we stayed in different countries, time and space proved to be no challenge for Anri. We scheduled a Zoom call and
Anri spent an entire afternoon guiding and coaching us through the the importance of independent sleep, the ways to encourage is and the tips and tricks to ensure it.

Anri was available for questions and guidance at all times.
With her help it took us only 3 days to teach our little to fall asleep independently and sleep throught the night.

Using Anri was the best decision we even made.
If your little needs help sleeping, contact Anri today.
It will be life changing.

What is the best sleep environment for your infant?

White noise
Empty crib
Correct room temperature (20/21 Degrees Celsuis)
Darkness
Sleeping bag

You don’t need any fancy cribs/sleepers, sleeping aids, cot mobiles or expensive blankets and remember the ABCs of baby sleep!

“Just you wait….”🙄

Whilst I appreciate the advice of more “experienced” parents, I tend to want to roll my eyes at the so-called advice being dispensed at times. “Just you wait until he starts walking, you’ll never sit still again” “Just you wait till she start teething, you’ll never sleep again”.

Parents, be careful with your words. People need to be uplifted and not demotivated – being a parent is difficult enough without these pearls of wisdom that don’t add value at all. The only negativity we need is a negative Covid test.

Tummy Time talks
From about 6 weeks, your baby should be doing roughly 15-30 minutes of supervised (and awake!) tummy time per day to help strengthen their necks.

Your baby should be placed on a solid flat surface (never on a table) and should be observed at all times. You can used a rolled up towel to place under their chests for a bit of support.

Tummy time is also a great way of filling in the time between wake windows.

You can start of with 3-5 minutes for very young babies and slowly start increasing the time they spend on their stomach each day.

Zips vs Popper

I’ve always preferred using Zip-up pyjamas for my children when they were newborns and small babies. The video illustrates why 😊

My favourite zip-up Pyjamas are from Bonds Australia but you can get similar ones from Next.

AAP recommendations:

The American Academy of Pediatrics that babies should NOT sleep with weighted blankets or sleeping bags.

They also recommend that babies should not wear hats after leaving the hospital (except when out in the sun) to avoid the risk of overheating. Please don’t put a hat on your baby while they’re sleeping!!

Teething

Did you know?

Some kids are born with a tooth or teeth? My daughter was born with a lower front tooth (neonatal) and we started brushing her teeth from a very early age.

Children will be teething for the first 3-5 years of their life so I always tell clients that I don’t accept teething as an excuse to not sleep train. Teething does also not cause fevers (caused by viral and bacterial infections) and hardly cause nappy rash. So, there you have it. Teething is an inevitable part of a child’s first years so why not make it easier by teaching them to sleep well?

Teeth

Be sure to include brushing your child’s teeth as part of their bedtime routine. You can start as soon as they get their first tooth. It’s also a great indication to your child that he will be going to bed soon and if done consistently will become easier with time.

A crying baby does not equal a traumatized child!

I cannot stress this enough. If your child is crying because they are not getting their way does not mean your child is being traumatized. This counts for all aspects in life. Think about how you react for instance when your child asks for a cookie just before dinner. If you say no and they start crying, they’re upset about the fact that they cant have a cookie – not because of a traumatic event. Trauma on the other hand is caused by a traumatic event such as the loss of a loved one or severe illness. Crying is a response to changes being implemented and boundaries being set.

Most babies initially cry during sleep training – I fully expect this but at no stage will I ask you to leave your baby to “cry it out” because I believe THAT to be traumatic. You will have my full 1 on 1 support navigating the “crying waters” during your sleep training journey.
