On the path towards independence. Rupert loves the new shopping carts in our local . He chooses the food he wants to eat, takes them to the till, puts them on, pays with my card, has a social interaction with the cashier and then enjoys a snack. He loves being trusted with the responsibility of this and being included in this process.

This sums up mindfulness cognitive therapy. It teaches you to move on from the past (depression) and not worry about the future (anxiety). Your life is in the present moment, it’s happening right now- don’t miss it.

Happy New Year! Just a little food for thought if you’re thinking about making positive changes in 2023.
I used to always try and think of a New Year’s resolution in an effort to better myself which often were too hard to achieve or too goal orientated. Next year, I will be setting intentions and focusing on the quality of energy I will aim to embody to open my mind to a greater self-awareness and kindness for myself and others.
Questions for New Year Intentions:
Sit in a comfortable position and tune into your heart and ask yourself what it is you long most for?
Consider something negative from 2022 that you wish to release and leave behind you. What energy will you need to make this change?

Montessori magic: my son is 19 months and has been going to Montessori nursery for just over two months. His independence has soared! This morning, he collected his place mat and cutlery, ate his breakfast himself, put it in the washing bowl, cleaned the table, put everything away and then tucked the chairs under. I gave him only a little encouragement as this routine he knows how to do in nursery. (He feels a little hot, hence not dressed yet!)
He attends 🥰

We started Montessori Mums in Abu Dhabi over a year ago with the mission of knitting a community to empower mothers and nannies with knowledge for their parenting journey in Abu Dhabi.
Being a small not-for-profit group, we’ve gathered the support of professional Montessori guides and educators sitting in different parts of the globe who have believed in our group’s mission and have decided and continue to decide to contribute with their kindness, professionalism and knowledge. Montessori guides Febres-Cordero, Marisol Intriago, Ombeline Eckert from , Irena Hudjur from .montessori pioneered our first online talks believing in this project and we thank them wholeheartedly.
And half a year ago, with the support of a powerful group of volunteer-mums who jumped on board to contribute with their expertise and selfless operational help, we became Montessori Women the Middle East and have managed to build a small organisation that works for creating spaces accessible to every mother and mother to be, nanny and educator, and every woman caring for children across the Middle East.
Thank you to Wonder Moms for including us and recognising our cause and mission.
It’s a meaningful moment for all of us who make the team of Montessori Women in the Middle East: Erika Mills, Maricel Mendez, Jamilya Sultan, Fatima Al Naqbi and Diana Salguero de la Cruz.

Spent a calming afternoon with my daughter painting. It’s a mindful activity as you have to focus on that task and no other thoughts have space to pass through. It also reminds me of my passions and who I was before I was a mother or teacher. This is important and will help me to be a more calm and prepared parent for my children.

We can lose ourselves and our happiness by comparison with others. People aren’t posting their down days, but they still happen, to everyone.
Comparing your life to others, especially on social media, will only derail you from your own path.
