It’s now June. Summer’s here. Where’s the body?

The “summer body” doesn’t get built in summer.

It gets built in the 5 months BEFORE, when you didn’t.

But here’s the thing… you can still salvage it.

You CAN be visibly different by August. Significantly different by September.

Nobody claps for the work that happens before this moment.

Up 3kg after Eid? Welcome to the club.

80% of that “weight” isn’t fat.

It’s water, glycogen, sodium and food still moving through your system.

A week of normal eating and you’ll be back to baseline.

But the panic is what drives most expats into doing something STUPID , cutting calories to 1,200, training twice a day, burning out by Friday.

Don’t do that. Do this:

✅ 10,000 steps daily
✅ Protein at every meal
✅ 3+ litres of water

Back to baseline by Sunday. Without misery.

Lovely week in the books☀️

Eid celebrations, another fitness comp (shock), a big week of training, and somehow still finding time for a bit of downtime.

This week had a bit of everything:

🏋️ Another competition ticked off
🐶 Teddy’s outdoor walks finally began
🧘 A yoga class that once again reminded me flexibility isn’t one of my strengths
📈 Three new clients joining The Fit Expat Academy
👕 My England World Cup shirt arriving (it’s coming home)
🛍️ Summer clothes being purchased despite having absolutely no clue where we’re actually going this summer.

We also managed:
🏛️ A trip to the Natural History Museum on Saadiyat
🏖️ A day at Kai Beach
🏊‍♂️ A driathlon event
⛳ A few rounds at Topgolf
❤️ A couple of cheeky date nights

And amidst all that, summer holiday planning is underway... which mostly consists of opening Skyscanner, getting excited, closing Skyscanner, and repeating the process the following day. Flights are crazy, there’s too many options, help needed.

The best part of the week though? Seeing The Fit Expat Academy continue to grow. Every new client, every check-in, every win reminds me why I started this in the first place.

Life feels busy. The weather is getting hotter. The AC is working overtime. 5 weeks till we fly.

The crowd is watching.

The clock is counting down.

There is nowhere to hide.

This is my favourite kind of pressure.

Because pressure reveals who you’ve been when nobody was watching.

The training. The discipline. The thousands of small decisions that most people never see.

It all shows up here.

I coach expat men in the UAE who want to feel like this , not just in competition, but in everyday life.

Confident in their body. Energetic at work. Proud of what they see in the mirror.

You’ve been saying that for 2 years⏰

After Ramadan. After this trip. After this busy quarter at work. After summer. After Eid.

There is always a reason. There is always a “better time” coming.

There never is. Not in the UAE. Not in this life.

Life out here doesn’t slow down. Summer comes. Then the winter party season hits with more brunches. Then Ramadan. Then it’s summer again.

If you wait for the perfect time another 2 years will pass and you’ll be in exactly the same spot.

The guys I coach didn’t wait. They started in the middle of busy weeks. In the middle of work trips. In the middle of family visits. They just started.

Because the UAE is one of the most food-abundant, social-heavy, sedentary-by-default environments on the planet and nobody warns you when you arrive.

Welcome dinners every week.

Free brunches with your package.

Work entertainment everywhere.

And it’s too hot to walk anywhere outside.

Within 6 months, most expat men are 5-10kg heavier than when they landed.

Within 3 years, they don’t recognise themselves.

It’s not inevitable, but you have to plan for it.
