🇿🇼 Sylvester "Gladiator" Chipfumbu earned his nickname in the gym, losing hard sessions and showing up again the next day until a friend asked whether he planned to fight until he died.

The UAE Warriors Intercontinental Featherweight Champion took the name and kept the attitude. Born and raised in Mkoba, Gweru, he traces his roots to the Rozvi Empire, a name he translates as "destroyers or scatterers."

He says some opponents looked past him when he first arrived in UAE Warriors. On October 22 he brings four straight wins into his fight with the unbeaten Abdelrahman Essam 🇪🇬.

🇪🇬 Abdelrahman "The Mummy" Essam describes himself as stoic, cold and technical, and he says the part of his game he is proudest of is how well-rounded it has become under coach Gavin Tucker.

He brings a perfect 10-0 record into his UAE Warriors debut and calls it a natural step up. Fighting for an Arabian promotion is something he says he always wanted, being from Egypt, and he is glad his career has brought him back.

Then he turned to the camera with a warning for Sylvester Chipfumbu 🇿🇼: "Hey, Sylvester, I hope you show up prepared." .e

"Farida, I know you've fought a lot this year. You're a very well-prepared fighter, but on October 22, I'm keeping my belt."

🇧🇷 Michele Oliveira sent that message to Farida Abdueva 🇰🇬 ahead of her first title defense, promising a different version of herself with a new mindset and a different game.

When she settled in Salvador, she gave herself one year to decide whether MMA was really her path. She fought twice in UAE Warriors before that deadline ran out, won the Women's Strawweight title in the second fight and now calls fighting her life's mission.

She also explains why the black belt means everything to her and shares the saying she lives by: "If the horse comes by already saddled, you ride it."

At 14, Farida Abdueva walked into her first Muay Thai class in Kyrgyzstan. Years later she left home and her mother behind to chase the dream in Thailand.

“The most difficult moment in my life was when I moved to Thailand. I left my mother. She’s alone now. But I just believed in myself and built my team.”

Now she trains at Tiger Muay Thai as a complete MMA fighter. This Thursday she fights for the strawweight world title.

“When I want something, I’m gonna get it. And I want this belt so bad.”
