Sharing this little story with you… ❤️
So, Jazz just moved into a flat on his own, and yesterday he sent me this picture asking whether I wanted these items or if he could throw them away — since a lot of their kitchen stuff has been used by me whenever I visit.
That rectangular aluminium tray on the right has been in the Jarrous household for decades. I remember Mom baking in it for me and my sisters when we were growing up. When I got married, I took it from her and continued baking in it for my own kids.
Then, somehow, when the kids moved to Montreal, it ended up in their luggage — as if an old baking tray was an essential item to take across continents! 😂
For the past five years, they — and I whenever I visited — used it to bake all sorts of dishes.
Tonight, it’ll finally be given away to someone who can’t afford to buy a new tray.
Jazz thinks it’s too old and crusty. 😁
And it got me thinking… isn’t it funny how we attach so much meaning, memory and nostalgia to material things?
To me, it was never just a tray. It carried pieces of Mom, my childhood, my marriage, my motherhood, and now my children’s lives.
But perhaps there’s something beautiful about knowing when to let go.
The memories stay. The tray can go. ❤️
Time to let go… and make room for what’s next.
