A great weekend for Team SAS! 👊🥊

We were at the Flanders Cup in Belgium 🇧🇪

With just 5 fighters, the team brought home an incredible 15 medals:

A special mention to Ella, who won Junior Girls Grand Champion, and Ryan, who came 2nd in Men’s Grand Champion.

It was especially great to see Liv back in action after being out of the team for several years. Welcome back Liv!

A massive well done to all of our athletes. Every one of you represented Team SAS with pride, determination and sportsmanship. Thank you to all of our coaches Tony, Stu and Nick, parents and supporters for another brilliant weekend.

WAKO GB National Championships report

Last weekend the team headed Barnsley to battle it out to become national champions and gain our positions on the Junior & Senior national team for 2026.

What a weekend… one of the toughest Nationals we’ve faced to date. The standard across the UK is seriously high right now, and every single fight had to be earned on the tatami.

As a team, we’re in a special place. Two strong generations pushing things forward. Our OGs leading from the front and our next generation coming through with real intent gaining experience and already hitting the podium.

To finish 3rd on the medal table from 66 national teams entered at this level is something to be proud of and we are always proud to be putting Rugeley on the map.

We never settle, there’s always improvements to be made. So we will keep building, learning, and we keep moving forward.

Big respect & thank you to our coaches Tony, Ellie, Darrell, Nick & Stu for giving their time this weekend to the team, guiding the team every step of the way.

First Team GB squad session of the year done and dusted 👊🇬🇧

Great to see some of our SAS fighters on the tatami alongside athletes from all over the UK, sharpening their skills and pushing each other in preparation for the Italian World Cup 🇮🇹🔥

Rebecca takes the win at the WAKO World championships against Italy 14-9, congratulations Becca excellent work! 🇬🇧

Jack wins his first fight of the WAKO World Championships in Abu Dhabi against a strong Greek fighter, he will fight again tomorrow against USA.

Also good luck to Rebecca & Darrell who also fight tomorrow flying the flag for Rugeley & GB!
