AlQana is a new entertainment destination that suits all ages and celebrates Abu Dhabi’s colorful past, dynamic present, and bright future.
The Dream:
AlQana is a new entertainment destination that suits all ages and celebrates Abu Dhabi’s colorful past, dynamic present, and bright future. It was conceptualized to highlight all the things that make Abu Dhabi great – from its fascinating local culture to its prominent stature as the capital of the region’s commercial hub. AlQana embodies Abu Dhabi Vision 2030’s goal of transforming th
e emirate into a world-class tourism hub. It will treat huge crowds of guests from all over the world to a distinctive leisure and lifestyle destination that complements Abu Dhabi’s heritage and ambitions. The Design:
AlQana’s structural designs are inspired by the sand dunes sweeping across Abu Dhabi’s serene landscape. Each stand-alone building has its own distinct shape, creating an imposing monument that pays homage to Abu Dhabi’s progressive vision and its affinity with culture and heritage. Extending 1.5 km from each sides of the canal, AlQana features a long walkway connected by four bridges traversing a 2.4-kilometre waterfront. Leisurely strollers will be amazed by the breathtaking views, while joggers and other health enthusiasts will benefit from a scenic exercise path. Among AlQana’s best attractions are the UAE’s biggest aquarium featuring the region’s longest water tunnel; Abu Dhabi’s biggest stand-alone cinema complex; an expansive 12,000 m2 Kids Area offering an adrenaline rush of adventure and entertainment; and one of the largest and most comprehensive gyms in the world. It will also include a Yacht Marina, a huge outdoor theater, and restaurants offering various cuisines and fine VIP dining experiences to please everyone’s palate. Daily on-ground and water shows and easy accessibility to venues via water taxis add further to AlQana’s appeal. Moreover, in keeping with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030’s emphasis on sustainability as a foundation for local development, AlQana extensively incorporates various ‘green’ strategies such as the use of solar energy systems. The Location:
Stretching across an area of 175,000 sqm and located along Khor Al Maqta, the historic natural waterway bordering the mainland, AlQana is one of Abu Dhabi’s most iconic destinations. It provides easy access to the hub of the capital and to the neighboring Ritz-Carlton, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr and Shangri-La five-star hotels. With no high rise buildings and towers in the immediate vicinity, AlQana provides guests with uninterrupted views of the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Memorial Park nearby.
