🥈Second place for Lyrical at DIDC ✨

I am so proud of our full senior team.

We normally have seven dancers who have all worked incredibly hard . Due to holidays, commitments, and unforeseen circumstances. This group went from seven, to five, to four, back to five, and back to four again. They had last-minute rehearsals, a new team member and made changes side-stage minutes before performing , and even had to remove a major section of the piece.

The four dancers who went on were understandably hesitant, but they stayed calm, managed the crisis, and even created new choreography themselves while Miss Amy dealt with an emergency. Minutes before going on stage, they transformed a seven-dancer piece into a four-dancer piece.

My advice to them was simple: you are fantastic dancers with great technical ability & strong choreography. You can either step back or go out there and give it your all. And that is exactly what they did. They owned the stage and took second place.

I have never been so proud, not just of the four who performed, but of the entire team.

Yesterday proved that when you feel vulnerable or unsure, remember why you dance, trust your abilities, and believe in yourselves. It would have been easy to step away, but they pushed through, did their best, and earned the recognition they deserved

Our students took on a strict barre class focused purely on precision and technique — and it was such a valuable experience to see what a true company or professional class feels like. ✨

While the combinations were far from easy, the emphasis was on control, form, and detail. Each exercise was designed to build stamina, strengthen local muscular endurance, and refine that beautiful turnout. Students worked precisely through set degrees — from 30°, to 90°, and up to their highest individual capability — developing both strength and artistry along the way.

The barre is the foundation of all classical ballet training. Without putting in the work at the barre — focusing on the articulation of the feet, the stamina of the muscles, and the poise and alignment of posture (especially through the supporting side and hip) — true progress isn’t possible.

Our students truly felt the importance of a strong, focused barre, and we hope this appreciation carries into their everyday classes — a reminder that every great dancer is built from the fundamentals. 💫🩰
