Top 3 things I learned in training people for 11 years.💯
💪🏼 Not everyone wants to be a body builder.
When I was a young personal trainer, I became an evangelist of body building type workouts. Bro splits 5x a week. Eat bland foods because thats the one that worked for me.
It gave some of my clients back then initial results, but eventually, it became unsustainable for their specific lifestyles. Over the years, I've discovered that it doesn't matter how optimal a program is; if it's done inconsistently, it won't produce results. Consistency is king, and people are more consistent when
1. It fit’s their lifestyle
2. I explained the importance why they are doing something.
3. They enjoy doing it 🤷🏽♂️
🫣 Excuses are often times valid.
I used to think that the reason people couldn't reach their goals as fast as they should was because they were lazy and full of excuses. However, as I've grown older and experienced more adult stuff, I've come to realize that those excuses are often legitimate. The younger version of myself would have pushed my clients harder, but now I create better strategies to help my clients cope with those struggles. I've learned to communicate better and understand their non-negotiables.
🤔 Perfect is the enemy of good.
I've talked to a lot of people who have told me that they want to start but can't because it's not the perfect time yet.
I've also talked to people who tried a fad that gave them initial results, but eventually, it stopped working, and then they asked me why.
Of these two, the latter often has a higher likelihood of sticking to it.
Although I'm not a fan of fads, I still keep some of them in my “coaching toolbox” as they still serve a purpose for some people, and that is to start the ball rolling ⚽️.
Fasted Cardio - (gave them the habit of being active)
No food after 7pm - ( learned self control)
Lemon water - ( they end up drinking more water)
Avoided sugar - ( end up eating less calories and learned controlling their cravings. )
Once this ball is rolling, it is so much easier to make other lifestyle and training modifications, simply because the person is now more compliant and excited about the process.

There is one simple idea, that if you master it, you’re already halfway there.
Forget about the “perfect” exercise.
Forget about the “perfect” diet.
It’s SHOWING UP!
Quick question :
Are you the type of person that keeps setting goals for yourself, but when it comes to taking action, finds yourself overwhelmed with the things “you need to do”?
My advice,
JUST. SHOW. UP.
Do something.
Anything!!
Walk, do some body weight push ups, choose healthier foods, wake up early..
Then try to be better each day!
You cannot improve anything until you become the type of person who shows up EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Client spotlight! 🚨
Leah used to be my in-person client back in Manila🇵🇭, and now I've been working with her online for the past few years. I've seen her transition from an occasional lady who wanted to "tone up" to becoming a true fitness enthusiast and athlete. Through the process, we have adjusted her exercise program and nutrition to accommodate her needs.
The goal used to be just to keep the fat off, but now she's competing in and winning sports events and community challenges.
At 43, she is now heading to Tokyo 🇯🇵 to participate in her first marathon! Who knows, maybe in a few years, she'll decide to join a triathlon. Only time will tell. And if she does, I'll always be happy to support her!
