⭐ Alessia Orro is an Italian volleyball player born on July 18, 1998, in Narbolia, Sardinia. She is considered one of the best setters of her generation, known for her game vision, technical precision, quick decision-making, and on-court leadership. Her playing style is modern and dynamic: she likes to speed up the offense and make the most of every attacking option available to her team.
She grew up athletically in Sardinia and quickly stood out in youth programs, showing uncommon talent in the setter role from a very young age. Her skills brought her rapidly to the top level of Italian volleyball, where she made her Serie A1 debut early. From her first seasons, she demonstrated strong personality, pressure management, and tactical maturity — rare qualities for such a young player.
During her club career, she became a central figure in top-level team projects. With Vero Volley Milano (later Numia/Vero Volley Milano), she established herself at both national and European levels, playing a leading role in high-ranking league finishes, European cups, and finals. Her impact goes beyond assists: she organizes the team’s system of play and contributes with blocking and tactical serving.
With the Italian National Team, Orro progressed quickly from youth squads to the senior team. Over time she became Italy’s starting setter, competing in the most important international tournaments. Among her most significant achievements are the European Championship title, the Volleyball Nations League victory, and above all the Olympic gold medal with the Italian women’s national team — a historic milestone that definitively placed her among the world elite in her role.
From a technical standpoint, she is especially valued for:
fast and varied play distribution
strong connection with middle blockers and effective quick attacks
ability to change the tempo of a match
solid blocking despite not being among the tallest setters
high competitiveness and natural leadership.
Off the court, she is known for determination, professionalism, and strong commitment to the national team. She is often cited as a model for young setters thanks to her discipline, game intelligence, and continuous improvement mindset.
