New pod out at 4pm today! 🎧

If you don’t already know, I have my own podcast on Spotify/Apple podcasts titled ‘The Holistic Health Podcast.’

I started this podcast two years, with a mission to share my journey, but also to inspire others to take control of their own health/fitness/mindset 🧠✍🏽💯📚⭐️

In today’s society, it’s SO easy to allow our health and mindset to decline if we don’t actively work on it. The work comes from you, noone else. 👊🏽

Working in both the fitness ( ) and music industry, I make it a non-negotiable to take care of my health and fuel my mindset with positivity on a daily basis, so I can deliver to my audience and to my clients.

Today’s episode is all about character building! I share with you my top tips on how I have built my resilience, overcome challenges and how I continue to stay strong and positive every single day despite life throwing obstacles.

I’ll share the link on this page, once released 🙂

Do you know which direction you’re heading?… Whether that be with fitness, your job, your relationship, your life etc. Do you know what you ACTUALLY want to achieve in life? Not what society has told you is the ‘right path.’

I know exactly what I want, and I know which direction I’m heading… but a lot of my clients who first start with me, don’t. All they know, is that they want to lose weight, but they don’t actually know the steps to get there. That’s what I’m there for, to provide my clients with the correct STEPS to get to their fitness goal.

You see, once you know which direction you’re heading, and you have a mentor or coach to guide you, it starts to FEEL possible. You start to envisage obtaining that goal, OR you start to build confidence which allows you to create new goals or to enhance your current ones.

I got my first PT in 2019. Why? I wanted to ‘lose weight.’ I had a great journey with it, but I fell in love with the craft of personal training as opposed to getting a ‘bikini body.’ From then on, every PT I had was for the sole reason of UPSKILLING, not to lose weight or gain muscle. I just wanted to learn. In 2020 I signed up to do a PT course, it took me two years and 2020 was also my year of growth and figuring out what I wanted. Now I know what I ACTUALLY want, and that is to help as many people with their fitness goals as possible.

Online coaching/PT’ing isn’t a typical 9-5. If I followed what society wanted for me I would be stuck doing a 7-5 teaching job forever, because that’s my degree. But I want and deserve more than that! You do to… ❤️

I hope this post inspires you to start discovering yourself, and to work out what you actually want. Take yourself away from distraction for a couple of weeks, and sit with your thoughts. Think about you for a second… not your deadline or your catch up with your mate after work. Think abour your current life and what YOU want, and then start to piece together a plan to get there.

On that note, if you know you want to improve your fitness, then let me know / comment below and I’d be more than happy to help ☺️

HOW DO YOU TALK TO YOURSELF IN THE GYM? ✨🗣

When it comes to lifting weights, or hitting any fitness goal… it’s important to constantly reaffirm and reassure yourself that YOU.CAN.DO.IT 👏🏽🔥

Whenever I’m going for a big lift, I commonly say to myself:

‘You’ve got this Priyanka’

‘Let’s go: 3, 2, 1…’

I am my biggest champion. I talk to myself as if I was my own client, because I want to be practicing what I am preaching.

The point is, if you don’t self assure your goal or affirm it out loud or in your head, you make it harder to achieve that goal. A LOT of achievement within fitness is down to MINDSET. Having a positive and confident mindset to lift that weight, finish that rep, push through to the end of the set etc.

The next time you’re in the gym, pay attention to how you speak to yourself. Yes, you may have a friend hyping you up but ultimately it’s you vs you.

What is PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD? 💪🏽

In my last few reels, I’ve shared my workouts and explained how for each compound exercise, I have progressively overloaded in order to challenge myself and increase the weight of my working set.

So what is it?

Essentially, progressive overload means to ‘𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲/𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.’ In my opinion, it’s important to do this every single workout if you want to progress in the gym!

How can we do this?
- Increase the weights
- Increase the number of sets
- Decrease the rest time
- Increase tempo

If you don’t know where to start when it comes to progressively overloading, this would be my advice:

1️⃣ Write down your current weights for each of the exercises you do in your plan.
2️⃣ Increase the weight by 2.5kg - 5kg the first time you progressively overload.
3️⃣ Assess how you feel with those weights. Work accordingly and add / take away weights each time you train from now on. Really push yourself on your last set.

Hope these tips help! ✨

Most first time clients will come to me with one goal in mind… and that is, fat loss.

The key to fat loss is lifestyle. Having a good lifestyle and being in a caloric deficit. IE: Moving more than you are consuming.

Here are my tops to anybody aiming for fat loss as their key fitness goal:

1️⃣ Aim to hit a minimum of 8k - 10k steps per day

2️⃣ Eat high protein meals to stay fuller for longer and to avoid snacking

3️⃣ Avoid ‘calorie dense’ foods IE: High calorie foods which are smaller and not filling

4️⃣ Meal prep and track your calories on an app like myfitnesspal, so you stay mindful of what you are consuming

5️⃣ if you’re going out for food, research the menu beforehand and make mindful choices.

Hope these tips help. Any more tips, feel free to DM me and we can start your fitness journey today 📩

MENTAL VS PHYSICAL FITNESS 🧠💪🏾

A strong mind means a strong body.

A strong body protects you.

A strong mind and body makes you invincible.

Nobody can touch you. Nobody can defeat you… because you’ve you curated a mindset that’s so tough it allows you to put yourself first. You’ve curated a body that’s strong enough to battle, to run, to carry out day to day tasks effortlessly

How do you create a strong mindset? 🧠
✨ WORK ON YOURSELF. Learn how YOU work. Read/Journal and use prompt questions to ask yourself certain things.

✨ Be selfish. Put yourself first in every situation and do what serves you. This can be so hard, because if we are constantly around people we have the potential to become influenced and forget what we actually want.

✨ SPEND TIME ALONE. This, is super powerful. I spend 90% of my time alone, and yes it can get lonely at time but if you find ways to push through negative thoughts and be at one with yourself then you really are winning 👏🏽
Alternatively, spend time with people who are allow you to grow, develop and who are successful themselves. Learn from them and watch them. Get a mentor.

How do you create a strong body? 💪🏾

Train and stay active consistently 💯

Work on your mental and physical fitness DAILY, and watch your transformation. All those goals will now seem possible, all that self doubt will reduce considerably and your drive to claim your life will soar 📈

Squat positioning 🍑

The bottom of the barbell squat, and how you hold this position, is the most important part of the exercise. Incorrect form at the bottom of the movement, could result in injury to the lower back.

When at the bottom of the movement, ensure to keep a 90 degree angle between your heel and your knee (as shown in the picture). Anything LOWER than this will cause lower back injury and anything HIGHER than this is an indication that the weight is too heavy.

My advice would be, that you should be able to comfortably squat down and come back up with the given weight (TEMPO: 3 seconds down, 1 second hold, 2 seconds up)

Hope these tips help! ✌🏽More squat tips to follow
