Pain isn’t always coming from where you feel it.
When one part of your body isn’t moving well, another area often works overtime to compensate. That means the pain you notice may actually be showing up where your body is adapting, not where the problem started.
💥 Hip pain can feel like low back pain.
👟 Knee pain can develop after changing shoes.
💪 Elbow pain can appear even if you’ve never played tennis.
Why does this happen?
When one joint loses mobility, nearby joints and muscles step in to pick up the slack. Over time, those repeated compensations can overload tissues, change the way you move, and eventually lead to pain in unexpected places.
Instead of only treating the sore spot, it’s important to understand what changed in your movement and what your body is trying to protect.
✨ With the right hands on care, we can help restore balance to how your body moves, reduce unnecessary strain, and relieve symptoms at their source, not just where they show up.
📍If pain keeps appearing where you least expect it, don’t ignore the pattern. Your body may be telling a bigger story.

An amazing weekend back in Johannesburg 🇿🇦 attending the Birth in Balance Symposium with Dr. Jen Santos and Dr. Kristen Hosaka from the ICPA.
Grateful to deepen my knowledge in perinatal and paediatric chiropractic care, birth mechanics, and complete my Webster Certification.
I’m passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond, and continuing to learn so I can provide the highest standard of care for mothers, babies, and children.
Grateful for the opportunity and excited to bring this knowledge back to my practice in Dubai.

Chiropractors are trained to care for your spine, muscles, and nervous system.
They use gentle, specific movements called adjustments, to help reduce pain, improve how your body moves, and support your natural healing.
Some people feel better right after their visit, while others might need a few treatments to notice a change. If there are any side effects, they’re usually mild and don’t last long.

Osteoporosis primarily affects women and is characterized by a loss of bone density, which makes bones brittle and more prone to fractures.
This condition gradually weakens the bones over time without causing noticeable symptoms until a fracture occurs.
Signs and Symptoms:
• Back pain
• Spinal curvature (often a rounded mid-back)
• Decrease in height
• Increased risk of fractures
Osteoporosis is often referred to as a “silent disease” because it can progress without symptoms until a bone breaks. It can be diagnosed with a simple DEXA scan (bone density test), which is why it’s important to get regular check-ups starting around age 50.
Prevention & Management:
- A balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D
- Regular weight-bearing exercises (walking, jogging, or strength training)
- Good Posture
- Monitor Bone health
- stay safe and prevent falls, increase balance exercises
- Avoid alcohol and smoking
- consulting a doctor for medication (if and when appropriate)
These steps can help prevent or slow the progression of osteoporosis and keep your bones strong.

The Wear-and-Tear Joint Issue
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease caused by the breakdown of cartilage, the cushioning between bones. Over time, as cartilage wears down, bones begin to rub together, causing pain, stiffness, and swelling, especially after activity or periods of immobility.
Common Areas Affected:
• Hips
• Knees
• Lower back
• Neck
• Hands
The hallmark of OA is joint pain that worsens with movement or after resting for a while. The condition is commonly linked to aging, overuse, or previous injuries.
Chiropractic therapy can help reduce pain and inflammation, improve range of motion, and enhance quality of life by using spinal adjustments and joint mobilizations to improve mobility and reduce stiffness.

When vertebrae lose normal motion, it can cause joint fixation and irritation, resulting in muscle spasms and myofascial trigger points (MTrPs).
MTrPs may also arise from excessive muscular demand, disrupted recovery, temperature extremes, emotional stress, or inactivity. Poor postures, such as crossed sitting or improper lifting, can exacerbate these issues. Myofascial techniques can help restore motion, reduce pain, and improve circulation.
Regular chiropractic treatment is crucial for maintaining optimal spinal and joint function, leading to reduced muscular effort and less stress and fatigue.

Over the past few months, I have focused on deepening my understanding of our young patients and enhancing my skills by completing my pediatric certification through the University of Johannesburg.
It’s crucial to care for our littlest patients as they grow, enabling them to reach their full potential and minimizing compensatory challenges as they transition into adulthood.

Pediatric chiropractic is a specialized branch of chiropractic care focused on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues in infants, children, and adolescents. It aims to ensure that a child’s spine and nervous system are functioning properly.
Chiropractors use gentle, age-appropriate techniques, often much lighter than those used on adults, to adjust and correct spinal misalignments in children. The goal is to promote overall wellness, improve mobility, and support proper growth and development.

Chiropractic care is one of the most popular complementary medicine services sought out by parents for their children. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the musculoskeletal system in all ages, as well as the effects these disorders can have on the growing nervous system and general health. Chiropractors in the working field of pediatric care take their patients’ entire physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account.
Chiropractors often treat children for a range of issues from sports related injuries and headaches in older children to excessive crying in the youngest. Manual therapy has been shown to decrease crying times by up to 1.25 hours per day in irritable infants. Although chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck pain, which they do very well, parents also consult chiropractors regarding a range of other related conditions.
The safety of chiropractic treatment in children has been assessed in many studies and has been found to be remarkably safe. The techniques used by chiropractors with children are modified to be appropriate for their age and developmental status. These modifications are based on a model of care, that is adhered to when using manual therapy with children.
