While often associated with myopia control, ortho-k lenses were originally designed to correct myopia and astigmatism. Their broader applications, including the correction of myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia, and presbyopia, are now less frequently discussed. By reshaping the cornea overnight, ortho-k provides clear daytime vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses. Paul Gifford provides an overview of ortho-k’s evolution, benefits beyond myopia control, and its effectiveness, safety, and clinical relevance for both children and adults. Asif Iqbal and Steve Vincent review a study on how overnight ortho-k influences corneal tissue thickness in adult myopes. Aaron Wolf shares a case report on hyperopic orthokeratology with presbyopia, highlighting lens design, patient outcomes, and the potential of customized ortho-k lenses. Randy Kojima presents a study showing that although the majority of new ortho-k patients are children and teenagers for myopia management, 14.5% were adults up to the age of 54, highlighting the broader benefits of ortho-k beyond myopia control.
