,We Don't Just Play, We Play for Development.........

By Empowering Girls. Educating Children. Restoring Hope.

Under the mentorship of ANADA, female members from communities across the Southwest Region both at home and in the diaspora came together to establish JOY ASSOCIATION, a non-profit initiative dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and purpose among vulnerable groups.

JOY ASSOCIATION focuses on empowering children, teenage girls, and underserved populations through education, mentorship, and compassionate outreach.

To mark its official launch, the Association hosted a targeted community outreach event designed to uplift and support beneficiaries through education, hygiene awareness, and spiritual renewal.

Event Highlights:

Back-to-School Support:

Over 200 children (ages 5–13 including internally displaced children received essential school supplies such as notebooks, school bags, pens, and learning materials. This initiative encouraged continued education, boosted academic confidence, and helped reduce dropout rates among children from low-income families.

Financial Scholarship Support:

Selected children also benefited from seed school fee scholarships, ensuring that their education could continue without interruption.

Menstrual Hygiene Education & Sanitary Pad Distribution
50 teenage girls were empowered through menstrual hygiene education and the distribution of sanitary pads. The session raised awareness about reproductive health, broke cultural stigmas surrounding menstruation, and encouraged consistent school attendance among adolescent girls.

Support for Widows:

Five widows from underserved communities received food items and essential household supplies a gesture of compassion, inclusion, and dignity restoration.

Inspiration & Healing Session:

A heartfelt session of faith, love, and hope helped participants overcome fear and trauma while promoting unity and resilience within the community.

APART from Youth/Professional Football Development, AFRICAN NATIONS AMATEUR DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (ANADA) is a community-based sports organization committed to empowering vulnerable and marginalized populations in Cameroon and beyond, particularly those affected by conflict and displacement. ANADA uses football as a transformative tool to foster social cohesion, peacebuilding, and sustainable development through locally driven initiatives.

Our flagship initiative, the Football for Social Development Program, has impacted over 5,500 displaced youth, providing educational support, scholarships, and health services. Through our annual Back to School Football Tournament, we equip displaced youth with school supplies, textbooks, and mentorship, while also engaging them in sport leadership workshops and football training sessions integrated with peacebuilding and life skills education.
In addition to education, ANADA addresses urgent health needs through sanitary pad donations to displaced girls, HIV/AIDS and drug abuse awareness campaigns, and mental health workshops, contributing to improved community health outcomes.

ANADA seeks to strengthen and expand its community-led initiatives that leverage sport for healing, empowerment, and long-term development. Partnerships will enable ANADA to deepen its grassroots impact, build local leadership, and further embed a culture of trust, collaboration, and resilience in conflict-affected communities. By investing in local assets and voices, ANADA is nurturing a sustainable model of community philanthropy where change is driven by and for the people.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally, taking an estimated 17.9 million lives each year. CVDs are a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels and include coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, rheumatic heart disease and other conditions.

In 2023 our health intervention at the Dubai African Football Cup-World Africa Day Celebration was advocacy on cardiovascular diseases. Our medical partner conducted test to all participating players and teams.

Statistics on football players who have died from cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are not always comprehensively documented, but some notable figures and trends can be highlighted:
Notable Statistics and Examples:

High-Profile Cases:
Marc-Vivien Foé: The Cameroonian footballer collapsed and died from a heart attack during a match in 2003 at the age of 28.
Dani Jarque: The Spanish footballer suffered a cardiac arrest during a preseason training session in 2009, at the age of 26.
Fabrice Muamba: The English footballer collapsed on the pitch in 2012 due to a cardiac arrest, though he survived due to prompt medical intervention.

General Statistics:
Research Findings: According to a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine (2011), the prevalence of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in football players is estimated to be about 1 in 40,000 players. This is relatively rare but highlights the risks involved.
European Data: A study from Italy found that cardiovascular events were a leading cause of death among athletes, including football players, though specific percentages were not always provided.

Screening and Prevention:
UEFA’s Screening Program: UEFA mandates pre-participation cardiovascular screening for all players participating in European competitions. This program has helped identify and mitigate risks, though cases still occur.

Trends and Recommendations:

Risk Factors: Football players, like other athletes, can be at risk for cardiovascular diseases due to intense physical exertion, underlying genetic conditions, or pre-existing health issues.

Increased Awareness: Recent years have seen increased efforts in preventive screening and awareness to address cardiovascular risks among athletes. Many football organizations now emphasize regular cardiovascular evaluations to reduce such occurrences.

While specific numbers may vary, the statistics and notable cases underscore the importance of cardiovascular health monitoring for athletes, particularly in high-intensity sports like football.

Motivation and Inspiration: Our coaches inspire players to give their best effort, maintain discipline, and strive for excellence. They create a positive team culture, foster teamwork and camaraderie, and instill confidence in players.

Physical Conditioning: Our coaches oversee players' physical fitness and conditioning, including strength, speed, endurance, and injury prevention. They design fitness programs and monitor players' progress to ensure peak performance.

Psychological Support: Our coaches provide emotional support and encouragement to players, helping them cope with pressure, setbacks, and challenges. They build players' mental toughness, resilience, and confidence to overcome obstacles and perform under pressure.

Player Development: Our coaches identify and nurture talent, helping players reach their full potential. They provide feedback, guidance, and opportunities for skill advancement and progression within the team and beyond.

Game Management: During matches, our coaches make strategic decisions, substitutions, and adjustments to maximize team performance and adapt to changing game situations.
