Today is World Mental Health Day.
And I don’t want to tell you to be strong.
Because sometimes, being strong is exactly what has exhausted you.
It’s waking up and showing up when your mind is somewhere else.
It’s being the person everyone turns to, while quietly wondering who you can turn to.
It’s saying “I’m fine” because explaining how you really feel takes more energy than you have.
And sometimes, it’s convincing yourself that you’re okay simply because you’re still functioning.
But here’s something I want you to remember.
You don’t have to reach a breaking point to deserve support.
You can be grateful for your life and still struggle with parts of it.
You can love the people around you and still need space.
You can be resilient and still need someone to hold you up occasionally.
And you can be making progress while having days when everything feels heavy.
Your mental health deserves attention on ordinary days, too. Not just when things become unbearable.
So today, don’t just check on the people who seem to be struggling. Check on the ones who always seem to have everything under control.
And if you’re that person, remember this:
You are allowed to be someone who needs care, not just someone who gives it.
That’s Balanced Grit.
Strength without self-abandonment. Resilience without pretending.
