As people, our fidelity is in our diversity.

The horrific consequences of the conflict in Gaza have resulted in a so many commentators speaking of a ‘complex’ situation. At its root, it isn’t complex if the foundation is built upon tolerance, compassion and parity.

After UFC 294, the in-cage speeches by Islam, Khamzat and Mokaev should serve as inspiration for all of us. And hope for the future.

MMA is a metaphor for life. It can appeal to our darkest instincts; rage, hatred, jealously, vanity. It also also summons our core instincts of humanity, empathy, care, understanding and dialogue.

There are many that will continue to fuel division, fan the flames of hatred and intolerance. We accept our responsibity to drive dialogue and change. We don’t always get it right; we make mistakes. I’ve accepted that and seek forgiveness daily for my actions but also seek the strength to use our platform to advocate for equality and build bridges.

Sport can bring understanding across a population. It’s evident daily.

At Paradigm Sports, we have team members from different faiths, cultures, colours, genders. I love them all. Our algebra for life is straight forward, respect and understanding. Each of our clients embody that. It may not be apparent, but when you really peel off the masquerade of the social media layer, the reality is everyone wants the same thing. Our approaches may differ.

Understanding that helps grow communication, tolerance and respect for each other.

As I said, a metaphor for life.
