Dear Potbellies, we had the very sad news overnight of the passing of one of our Founding members Arthur Bell. Taken way too soon. He was ever present and an absolutely amazing gentleman. Our thoughts and condolences are with Arthurs’s family and friends at this time. RIP Arthur AKA PB Fester.

I think we are all still getting used to the news of the loss of our fellow Arabian Potbelly, Neil Roberts. Several members based in the UK will attend a celebration of all the Neil was tomorrow in at Flintshire Crematorium and Northop Hall Cricket Club.

It has been hard to find a few words (we need lots) to describe what Neil meant to us all at the Arabian Potbellies and the Dubai Sharks, He was one of a kind. One of the most caring and thoughtful individuals that anyone could meet. It was not the public displays but the quite chats, the little questions about how you were doing, a message following training because he noticed something was not quite right. The offer of any help, or a lift to a game, was always made.

Neil always had the ability to brighten your day, whether it was part of a group or individually, his smile, jovial laugh, or lightening the mood of a group us. It was hard not to be touched by Neil in some way. He will be missed by all the Arabian Potbellies and Dubai Sharks around the world. Neil was unique and someone we will never forget.

ℹ️ Calling all Dubai based friends and rugby lovers... We have managed to pull together a fundraising evening for Dan’s Fund For Burns with the help of Dnata and the Dubai Sharks rugby club in the run up to the Dubai 7s at the Ranches Golf Club on Thursday 1st December.

🍺 We are delighted to offer you two packages to this evening BBQ.

There will be a package with alcohol and a package with soft drinks to choose from and a Q&A session with the rugby players and our special guest, former England Captain, Dylan Hartley.

🎁 There will be a raffle and auction on the night with plenty of opportunities we hope to donate and raise money for Dan’s Fund For Burns (www.dansfundforburns.org).

Dan’s Fund For Burns]

Message From Mike Quinn -

Its been an absolute Honour to serve as the Dubai Sharks Rugby Football club’s Chairman and the decision to stand down was not taken in a moment of rashness.

Over the seasons many of our members have taken a lead on the route that our club should take, while also guarding and growing the clubs values and culture. Those members have also been instrumental in helping new members immerse themselves in the values and the culture of the our club, where they are now the individuals who are leading and growing our club values.

We find ourselves today with a fantastic group of mature young members who have chosen and encouraged to take the responsibility in leading our club through these difficult times and on to greater success in the coming years.

I would like to congratulate Charlie Taylor on been elected the New Dubai Sharks Chairman, and also congratulations to all the members of his new committee. The vibrancy and energy in the new committee is fantastic and I look forward to working alongside them all.

I am very excited and very proud to be elected the Dubai Sharks President. A role that our founder Brian Jenkins has held since he stepped down as chairman, he has been our moral guide through out and continues to support us here in Dubai.

I can not wait for the lockdown to come to end and allow us back on a rugby pitch and preparing for the new season. The future looks fantastic, It looks even better wearing the Sharks Blue.

Some do call it the greatest rugby tournament!! No other tournament can bring out so much and so many National emotions. Its the Six Nations Kick off this Saturday. A great 7 weeks to come.
