When they ask why I don’t book standard beach vacations anymore?

Because lying on a lounge chair could never beat tearing through muddy trails on an ATV, tackling high-ropes courses in the forest canopy, soaring on ziplines, or taking the leap from a 300-foot bungee bridge! 🏔️✨

DID YOU KNOW CHICAGO ONCE CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF A RIVER? 👀🌊

In 1900, engineers completed the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, reversing the natural flow of the Chicago River so that its water moved away from Lake Michigan instead of toward it.

Why? To help protect Lake Michigan, which was Chicago’s main source of drinking water, from sewage and pollution. The redirected water flows through the canal system toward the Des Plaines and Illinois Rivers, eventually reaching the Mississippi River.

Pretty incredible piece of Chicago history. 🏙️🌊

The only thing crazier than the views is actually deciding to jump! 😱💥

Standing on the edge of the Whistler Bungee bridge, 300 feet above the glacier-fed Cheakamus River, is the ultimate test of nerves. This is easily one of the most heart-pounding moments from our group trip to Canada, nothing compares to that pure, terrifying adrenaline! 🇨🇦🏔️

THIS WAS NOT YOUR AVERAGE ZIPLINE! 👀

The Pacific Crest Canopy Tour in Wrightwood, California, was designed as a full aerial adventure through the San Gabriel Mountains.

Here’s what made the course stand out:
🪢 9 ziplines, including lines reaching 1,500+ feet
🌲 Heights of around 300 feet above the forest floor
💨 Speeds of up to 55 mph
🌉 Indiana Jones-style sky bridges
🧗 2 rappels from elevated platforms
🏁 A side-by-side racing zipline to finish the course

The experience combined ziplining, rappelling, bridges, and other aerial challenges, making it more than just a zipline ride.

Sadly, Ziplines at Pacific Crest is now reported as permanently closed, so this is a throwback to one of the adventure experiences I got to experience in Wrightwood.

When most people hear “Niagara,” they immediately think of the Falls. But just a short drive from Niagara Falls, you’ll find Niagara-on-the-Lake, surrounded by vineyards and w**eries.

The Niagara Peninsula is Canada’s largest and most concentrated w**e region, known for cool-climate w**es like Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.

And one of the region’s specialties? 🍇 Icew**e.

Icew**e is made from grapes that naturally freeze on the vine. The freezing process concentrates the sugars and flavors, creating a sweet, rich w**e. Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula is also the province’s primary Icew**e-producing region.

So yes, a Niagara trip can be more than waterfalls. You can explore the Falls, visit Niagara-on-the-Lake, and experience the vineyards and w**eries nearby.
