Most men over 40 are eating breakfasts engineered to crash their testosterone before 10am.

Cereal. Toast. Protein bars. Juice.

Then they wonder why energy disappears by mid-morning, why belly fat won’t move, and why they feel softer than they did at 35.

Here’s why I’m posting it today.

Most men over 40 are treating a testosterone problem.

What they actually have is a cortisol problem.

The Harvard Kennedy School studied male executives and found the same thing every elite coach now sees clinically: high testosterone alone doesn’t predict status, energy, or physical performance.

The interaction between cortisol and testosterone does.

You can have a “normal” T number.

If your cortisol is running hot — and it is, because you run a business — your body will still:

→ Store fat around your organs
→ Wake you at 3am
→ Tank your drive
→ Burn out your adrenals
→ Make every training session work against you

This is why most executive men hit a wall after 40 they can’t out-train, out-supplement, or out-discipline.

You don’t need more effort.

You need a different order of operations.

In my system, cortisol gets fixed first.

Insulin second.

Testosterone third.

In any other order, nothing holds.

Most men over 40 are chasing the wrong fix.

They consider TRT before they consider their plate.

Truth: a man with a damaged gut microbiome will never produce optimal testosterone — no matter how much he lifts, sleeps, or supplements.

I’m 39. 10 things I do now that I wish someone told me at 25.

1. I walk every morning before my phone touches my hand.

Cortisol is already elevated when you wake up. Walking regulates it.

The man who controls his mornings controls his hormones.

2. I eat protein first. Every meal. No exceptions. It’s not discipline — it’s hormonal architecture.

Protein at meal 1 controls insulin for the rest of the day.

3. I don’t snack. Every time you eat, you spike insulin. Every insulin spike blocks fat burning. Three clean meals. Nothing in between.

This alone changed my body composition more than any training program.

4. I sleep like it’s a business meeting I cannot miss. 7–8 hours. Non-negotiable.

Testosterone is manufactured during deep sleep. You cannot optimize hormones on 5 hours. You just can’t.

5. I train to build, not to burn. Two completely different signals to your body. One builds testosterone. One destroys it.

6. I stopped drinking alcohol. It’s liquid estrogen for men over 35. I don’t miss it. And I don’t miss who I was when I drank it.

7. I get bloodwork every 90 days. Not because I feel sick. Because I refuse to guess. Data runs my business. Data runs my body.

8. I protect my stress like I protect my money. Cortisol is the enemy of testosterone. Every unnecessary stress is a withdrawal from your hormonal bank account.

9. I lift heavy 3/4x a week. Heavy compound movements are the most powerful natural testosterone signal a man over 35 has. Nothing replaces this.

10. I stopped waiting to feel ready. At 25 I thought I had time.

At 39 I know I don’t. The best time to start was then. The second best time is today.

Time moves faster than you think.

I don’t have more time than you. I just stopped leaving my health to chance.
